The loud shrill of her alarm made Nora's hand flounder to press snooze. It was her third 'snooze' of the morning.
Although the wedding rehearsal wasn't for another eight hours and most people wouldn't be rushing to get ready, rich people did things differently. It wasn't just 'hair and makeup' but also facials, nails, stylists, and deep hair treatments and blowouts. Nora was already late.
She wanted to be stylish yet still not too formal because it was only the rehearsal. But she was so exhausted. She had a pretty sleepless night because her mind kept going back to her accidental phone call. Why was Oliver even with Charlie? Had he not changed? It was dumb of her to assume that her leaving him would help him become a different man because Oliver was so stubborn that he was basically the same guy he was in high school.
Nora lackadaisically picked up her phone to read through all her texts and emails. She found Oliver's name at the top of her messages with only one message.
'I'm going to Madeline's rehearsal dinner. I really hope I see you there. We should talk -Oliver'
Nora had been finding it very difficult to get up but as soon as she saw that message she shot up and groaned. She didn't even want to go anymore after Oliver's text. They were all going to stay at the hotel afterwards and Nora was going to make sure to dodge Oliver like a bullet. She didn't even understand why he was invited. Him and Madeline clearly weren't friends anymore and Blake had no connection to him. Why was he coming? He hated Madeline! But unfortunately Nora had to go to her best friend's rehearsal dinner, even if it meant some awkwardness between her and her ex-fiancé.
What was the protocol when it came to ex-fiancés? Was there some social rule she had to follow? He said he wanted to talk to her but that was the last thing Nora wanted. She couldn't handle anymore heartbreak.

The booming Hampton Hotel was a famous hotel where many celebs hosted their own events. However it was still two hours from Manhattan. Nora was exhausted by the time she got there. Entering its gold-framed doors, Nora felt a blast of nostalgia from her modelling days where that feeling of being elite and famous dominated her life. It was almost magical. Almost.
Her blue chiffon dress flowed behind her as she click-clacked in and as heads turned to look at her she felt a sense of confidence she hadn't felt in a long time. Her diamond tear-drop earrings and necklace felt heavy when she put them on but at that moment in that hotel lobby they felt light and fitting. She deserved to wear expensive diamonds and bejewelled Jimmy Choos and long, tailored Chanel dresses.
Suddenly, Madeline rushed past her with curlers in her hair wearing a Juicy Couture tracksuit. Granted, Nora was nearly two hours early but still. She expected Madeline to be ready. A flurry of scurrying stylists tailed behind her as she listed out various orders. Nora had to step in front of her, bumping into her to get her attention.
