The week carried on surprisingly well. After the argument between Oliver and Nora, Nora was beginning to regret coming back. However, when he returned home, his personality had done a complete one-eighty and he was back on his knees apologising and telling Nora how much he loved her. After that, he didn't really take much drugs. Of course there was always the morning fix but Oliver explained to Nora how it was harmless and he needed it to go into work. So, she turned a blind eye as he excused himself every morning from breakfast to go upstairs and snort whatever it was that was giving him energy. He accepted Nora for who she was so she had to accept him. Their love had to be unconditional.

Something felt different, however, on Saturday morning. Nora didn't realise what it was until she received a text from Spencer.

'hope you're okay today. i know it must have been tough being uninvited'

Of course! How could she forget? It was the day of Madeline's long awaited wedding to Blake. Nora let out a sad sigh. The reality was Nora wasn't going to her best friend's wedding and it was her fault. She dialled Spencer's number and he answered pretty quickly.

  "Hey, Spence..."

  "Hey."

Nora sat up. "Thank you.. for the message. I appreciate it."

"It's okay... I really hope you're okay Nora."

"I'm not. You know, I always imagined being there. Standing beside Madeline as her bridesmaid. I imagined you as the groom and Oliver as your best man and-"

"Nora, you're not helping me feel better," Spencer laughed.

"Sorry," Nora chuckled sheepishly. "It just feels like we're losing something. Like our whole lives were going in this one trajectory where endgame was you and Madeline and me and Oliver coupled together."

"I know. But not everything works out the way we want it to work out. We thought we were entitled to perfect lives because of our money. But all the money in the world can't fix this. We need to move on. I need to move on. I can't handle anymore heartbreak from Madeline."

  "Oh, Spence... I'm sorry."

"It's okay. I'm not entitled to Madeline just because of a childish promise we made to each other as teenagers. I'm letting go."

"I love you, Spence. I'm really proud of you."

"I love you too... I'm getting another call. Um, I'll call you back later okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, that's fine. I'm here for you if you need to talk."

"Thank you. Love you Nor."

After hanging up, Nora took a deep breath in and out and turned to face her endgame. He was so beautiful.

"Morning," Oliver murmured noticing her staring at him, slipping his arm around her. It was nice, just lying beside him.

"Maddie's wedding is today," Nora sighed. She placed her phone back on her bedside table and faced Oliver.
