Greg had been getting kicked around by the god, and he was on the ground, coughing. "I told you before, don't screw with a god," Lightning said. Greg just laid down, and he started laughing. It wasn't a nervous laugh, or a "I'm crazy" laugh, it was just a normal laugh. It was almost as if someone cracked a joke at the moment. Natalie and Star looked over and saw what was happening, they looked confused. "What are you laughing at?" Lightning asked. "I'm just wondering, why do you want to be a god?" Greg asked. "You lied to my brother, and killed the girl I love, you also let my father die." Greg laughed. "Well, here's the shortened version," Lightning said. The gods of lightning and Fire bother started as mortals, in school, as kids. They were hanging around the cafeteria, dealing trading cards and eating candy from the gas station across the street. This was back in 1978. "Wait a minute," Greg said. "The legend said that the gods existed before time even began." "How is it that you two became gods during the Cold War, and coincidentally, during my mother's birth year?" Greg asked. "If you'll let me finish, I was getting to that," Lightning said.
They were playing a card game, up until two kids came up to them. "Hey, lightning bolt, how's Russia?" One said. "Just because I'm a kid who likes that stuff doesn't mean I'm a communist," Lightning said. "I don't know, between you and fireball over there, you look enough like spies," another said. "... I got nothing," Fire said. "We win this time," the kids said. "Whatever, get over here and play some cards with us," Lightning said. Four friends, two of them would be future gods, and didn't know it. The next day came, and tragedy struck. Lightning and Fire got to school, only to find that it wasn't too long after yesterday. The two friends they had were involved in an accident. They both went home that day, crying. That night, Lightning was visited by an apparition, a god. "Wait, wait," Greg said. "How were you visited by a god if you were the god?" Lightning punched Greg, and he shrugged. "You know what, I'm just gonna sum it up," Lightning said. "I was marked by the god of lightning, and then I killed him, so, I became the god." Greg just laughed, not a little laugh or chuckle, he burst into a full blown laugh. "I've heard of overcompensating, but, wow," Greg said. "That's just ridiculous." Lightning stood, infuriated by his insults. Clouds rolled over them, and the god just stood, his eyes now empty. No pupils. "That's it, get angry," Greg said. Lightning dashed at Greg, only to get a face full of fire. "What the..." Greg gasped. Greg looked to the right of him, and saw Guillermo, he was smiling. "You don't get to kill them, not after what you did," Guillermo said to the gods. "You betray us?" Fire said. "No, I betrayed them," Guillermo said. Star appeared next to Guillermo, he looked over and saw the mark on her hand. "Aries, somehow, she transferred her mark to you," Guillermo said. "Does that mean I hold her power?" Star asked. "Yes." The two gods stood side by side, and they laughed. "No matter how much power you absorbed through her, it won't be enough to kill us," Lightning said. "Ha!" Greg scoffed. "We'll see about that." "You'll never know for sure until we try!"
