Chapter 27

"Lucas?... Lucas...."

I blinked a little in the blinding light, the small little forest grove glittering with early morning dew . I looked around, and gasped. I could just see her, her faint smile just glowing in the sunlight, her pail skin glowing angelically, the pure white dress gleaming like the morning dew on the grass, her hazel brown hair flowing unnaturally long for a mortal, her amber eyes shining with a sad look in them... Why was she sad?

I ran over to her, holding her close and kissing her gently. She kissed back gently, but there was something in the kiss that wasn't right. Her lips were still as soft as silk on his metallic ones... but she tasted... funny. "Luna...."

I backed up in horror, the woman I had kissed only moments ago a rotten corpse in his arms. When he let go, she still stood up, her eyes replaced by black socket and her skin a greenish hue and rotting off. The white dress she was wearing was stained with dirt, blood, and a blackish liquid that stained the top from the ooze that was falling out of the hole in her blue lips. She smiled again, and opened her arms to him, bone and muscle showing through the skin like something out of a horror movie.

"Lucas.... Don't you love me?"

I looked around franticly. This wasn't my lover. This wasn't Luna. I need to find-

Something pulled on my exposed chest plating, vines binding my hands and roots shooting out of the ground gripping my legs as the corpse walked slowly towards him. I looked down and saw some vines ripping my chest open, taking me apart. I screamed and tried to fight it, but it was no use, they were crushing me. They were going to kill me.

"Look at me Lucas."

I looked up, fear flickering in my eyes. She was right in front of me, only a few inches away, and her eyes were looking at the exposed mechanics inside. Gears were spinning and pistons where moving in time like a artificial heart beat, a small orb glowed behind them. I knew what she was going to do, and it scared me.

"Please..." I begged, leaning closer to her. I could feel the oily tears stream down my face. "Please don't kill me."

She smiled sweetly, bugs and worms crawling in her teeth and gums. "I love you, Lucas."

Then she dug into my chest and crushed my power source with her cold lifeless hands.

Lucas' eyes flashed open as he looked around the room. He was in his small room, in his normal dark room above the dance floor, his cable still attached to his neck. Gods save his soul, he had another dream again.... Another deadly, painful dream. He groaned as he detached from the charger and sat up in the queen sized bed. He looked next to him, to his lover's still ashen features, and felt more oily tears fall down his face. It had been a week so far. A whole, bitter, painful week without her. Everything was falling apart for him, he couldn't feel anything. He was becoming the robot he once was.

He closed his eyes and searched his stored memories for his first day he was born. The day he was activated, when his first images were of the most amazing woman he had ever seen smiling at him with tears in her eyes, and a rugged man in a lab coat and oil stained goggles next to her.

"Well look at that!It works!"

His vision tilted, meaning he had tilted his head in confusion, then looked at his hands, wiggling the fingers. 'What's this?'

Luna had taken his hands in hers, and he remembered the softness and warmth of them.

"Hello." She said, whipping away her tears as she smiled up at him. "I'm Luna."
