The first people I see are guards, standing back up, alert. I walk up to one officer and show him Abigail.

" There she is. She's the one who caused it all. Bind her up. Be careful, she's a newblood, but she's half Silver. She's got abilities, strong ones. I'll be coming back to you to get information from her. You should reinforce security around the castle. "

" Uh... "

" Yes? " I ask, irritated.

" What are we gonna do? We can't just throw her in a cell... "

" Yes, you can! You've still got those cells that make abilities drain out? "

" Yes, but the king has told us not to use them anymore... "

" That was great, then. But now, someone who tried to kill us all is in here, and her ability has an incredibly large range. So lock her up. "

He nods, and hurries away, while two others hold the still-dizzy Abigail. I set off towards where I came from; I've got to find Cal.

I don't immediately notice that I'm sprinting, but when I do, I don't stop. I've got to find Cal, I've got to find him and make sure he's alright.

I finally find the right hallway, and I dart to his door. I unbolt it quickly and literally throw myself on the bed beside him. He's slowly regaining consciousness. I massage his temples, saying his name so quietly I'm not sure someone one inch from me would hear it. But I say it nonetheless, over and over again. His eyes flutter open, and their bronze color is uncovered by his heavy eyelashes.

I smile at him, relieved.

" Hi there. " I whisper.

He looks confused. I softly stroke his hair, I knew he'd wonder why he's here.

" Who are you? "

My smiles vanishes instantly.

" Cal... it's me. It's Mare. "

" Mare? I - I'm sorry, I... "

He is so confused that I know suddenly. It hits me.

The wave damaged his brain.

He doesn't know who I am.

Author's Note: I'm sorry that this is so short, but I wanted to produce the maximum effect... I hope you like it nonetheless!
