" Everybody wants to throw us away
Broken boy meets broken boy "Phantomhive Manor, London.
Once again, Ciel was forced to sit at this massive , sheeny oak table with these insufferable people. His own family.
- "We had a really fun time at the charity gala last night. We ought to throw another soon." Aunt Angelina chimed in.
The young man was more than bored with always hearing the same fruitless debates ; weary of seeing his mother pretending that everything was alright while their family was falling apart. He couldn't stand his father's cold, abusive behavior, anymore. And he was worn out of having to bear his hypocrites uncles and aunts' pretends.
- " Would you care to be our guest for our next fund-raiser ? Vincent shall be the keynote speaker . " Rachel proposed.
But the worst part of these family meals was probably those obnoxious, deafening cousins running around. No , he did not want to play with them. And no, he didn't have any game on his phone , if anyone was wondering.
Ciel used to be deceived by these fake smiles and pleased with the conservative small talk. But he grew up and started to see right through every one of them. These seemingly never-ending family gatherings were now nothing more but a torture to him .
As usual, he was lost in his own thoughts, wishing to be anywhere else , when a roaring voice called him out.
- "Ciel, what are you up to?" His uncle , the baron of Barnett, asked this question nobody really cared about, just to embarrass him. "Always a salesman?" The vivacious man added and burst out laughing, immediately followed by his relatives .
Ciel's work had always been an hilarious inside joke for them. Even those bratty , spoiled cousins were laughing out loud , though he doubted they really understood the situation. The young man held back a sigh.
- "Yes, uncle, I'm still a salesman." he answered flatly.
The blue-eyed boy knew it wasn't worth arguing over. He felt a pang in his heart upon seeing his father hanging his head low in shame. The fits of laughter eventually died down and they resumed to eating.
Ciel knew he was an "embarrassment" to the Phantomhive name, who were well-known for being a family of noble businessmen with exorbitant wages.
- " Ciel , do you have games on your phone ?" The high-pitched , irritating voice of his little cousin was enough to make him cringe.
He knew this was bound to happen.
- " No." he snapped for what felt like the hundredth time this afternoon.
Ciel had everything one could dream of , but still felt terribly empty and miserable, stuck in a dreaded routine. His life felt like a boring movie playing on a loop he was being forced to watch.
- " Ciel , be kinder to your cousin ! " his mother scolded him like he wasn't a 19 year-old adult but a still a child.
That was enough .The young man took the opportunity to flee during the dessert, while no one was looking out for him. Just as he was about to start his car and get home, someone knocked on the driver's window ...
