- Ciel, this has nothing to do with you but I think that we shouldn't live together anymore...Alois dropped like a bomb.

- What? Why do you think that? Aren't you happy with me? The brunette asked, hurt showing in his eyes.I know you're not fully healed yet but I thought that...

Alois quickly interrupted him, putting a reassuring hand on Ciel's frail shoulder and patting him lightly.

- No, this isn't what you think I swear ! I'm really happy with you. Happier than I've ever been, truthfully. It's just that.. Alois trailed off, seeming at loss for words.

- Is it your mother? Ciel hurried him,his headache intensifying.

- Yes... She needs me... Her condition is worsening and... I'm the only one she has. Her only remaining son. I can't leave her alone in a time like this. Alois muttered.

- I understand... But, we'll still see each other, right? Ciel asked in a worried tone , holding his head with the palm of his hand.

- Um yeah. As much as we can. Alois promised, but deep inside his eyes, Ciel could see that he was doubting it himself.

Ciel chose to stay silent. Alois seemed miserable and he didn't to add an argument on top of that.

- I'm sure she'll get better really soon... Ciel tried to sound confident.

-Hopefully you're right... The blond responded, avoiding his boyfriend's gaze to play with his hands.

Ciel took one of the bony, cold, white hands between his to draw small circles on it. The gesture seemed to soothe Alois a bit.

- Alois... What have you been up to these days? Ciel inquired. He sensed that Alois was hiding something from him.

- Uh, nothing much really. He lied. Do you feel better? You think that you can walk? He said, chewing on his lips.

What subject was he avoiding?

- Alois... He whispered in a low tone, desperately trying to meet his shifty gaze.

- What? The blonde asked shakily.

- Nothing... Ciel muttered. He fought the urge to confront Alois about his concern. For the moment, it seemed wiser to abandon his curiosity. Let's get back to my room, I'm starting to feel quite dizzy.

Alois features instantly relaxed and he held in a sigh.

- All right. He approved, helping Ciel back on his feet.

The brunette felt worse than before. He was getting weaker and whiter which each second that passed by and felt like collapsing on the spot. The world around him was turning and blurring and he struggled to keep balance.

He heard Alois' distant voice asking him if he was alright, but he didn't find the strength to answer him. That alone should answer the blonde's question.

- Ciel, please keep your eyes open! Someone screamed, slapping his cheeks.

What? Was he closing his eyes?

- Ciel, goddammit you can't do that to me now! Alois' frightened voice was growing weaker and weaker.

Ciel tried to hang onto consciousness but he was losing his grip on reality.

He could still hear Alois screaming at a doctor to come and help him, but he already felt the black covering him and carrying him away. His eyelids were terribly heavy. He could feel his heart pounding abnormally fast in his chest, causing him unbearable pain. He just needed rest ...

He just had the time to feel two arms gripping him tightly before he fell.

The doctors were panicking around Ciel's limp body. Alois was stuck to the wall in a pitiful state, his face ravaged by fear and tears.

- Please tell me, he's fine! Alois uttered through ragged breathing, with a trembling voice.

A doctor lowered his head to check Ciel's pulse again.

- I'm sorry, he's dead.

Alois sank to the ground in a fit of tears.
