I've never been more relieved. The lone head of Alexander Kirk sits in my hands. He's dead.
The plan, although it switched about halfway through, worked. Alex is dead. All of the torture, the taunting... the constant fear for my life... it's all over.
But the fight is not over. The fight is just beginning.
A girl with tan skin and dirty blond hair looks back and forth from my hands to my face with wide eyes. Then, in a flash, her eyes turn to red and she screams, lunging at me. Scott easily steps in front of me and snaps her neck.
"KAITLIN NO!" A girl in the crowd yells and drops to her knees with tears in her eyes.
Esther is still in shock about Alex. She seems completely unphased by the vampire that has just died in front of her. She stiffens her spine before speaking the words that will commence the chaos. "Kill them. Kill them all."
And they charge.
A large amount of the people suddenly launch backwards and slam against the wall, they're spines cracking at the impact and some necks snapping as well. I silently thank Avi and Nicole before taking the challenge of the wolf in front of me.
He's strong, there's no doubt about it, but I can tell that he really has no clue as to why he's doing this. He just knows that he has to do it. I feel bad for having to kill him. He has other plans though.
He lurches forward and I feel his large teeth clamp onto my neck. We both fall to the ground and I scream louder than I ever have before. It burns. I've never felt pain like this. There's something that Alex has been giving him. The only thing vampires are completely vulnerable to that you might have heard of in the movies.
White Oak Tree bark.
I grab at the wolf, praying that the pain of my claws will cause him to stop. He never lets go and each time he moves, his teeth slightly pierce another area of my skin, searing my skin even further. I kick and thrash and claw at the wolf but he never falters.
I can feel myself getting weaker and weaker as the seconds roll by. The White Oak is spreading through my veins, eating away at my insides and Mr. Wolf over here isn't letting off. He knows he can kill me just by biting me. He probably just wasn't expecting it to take this long. Weaker vampires die instantly from contact with White Oak. More powerful vampires take much longer to kill.
"Scott," I choke out. It's soft but he heard me from another fucking town for Christ's sake. "Help me."
And in an instant Scott appears, his Soul eyes glowing from anger, and grabs the wolf. His sharp claws pierce deeply into the wolf but he doesn't budge, he only whimpers loudly. He must be using the fire power (that we haven't identified yet) because my claws never hurt him. Scott drags his claws all the way down the wolf's body, starting from his chest all the way down to the start of his legs.
Watching the wolf's guts spill out of him and onto me almost makes me hurl... almost. I'm honestly more worried about unlatching his teeth from my throat. So I throw his jaw open as far as it will go and step away from the deceased wolf.
I shoot Scott a look of gratefulness before facing my next opponent.
I'm not sure how long we've been fighting but eventually, the last standing person on the other team is a fairy. He looks to he around Scott's age and he looks terrified. Connie is holding him by the back of his neck while Avi questions her calmly.
"What's your name?" Avi says. His bright blue Warlock eyes are present and I can't tell if he's compelling him to answer to tranquilly or if he's actually calm.
"Tyler." He answers calmly.
"Why are you here?"
"Alex wants me to kill Mitch and Scott. But now Alex is dead so I have no purpose." He mutters, blanking out and staring at the ground.
Connie cuts in. "Honey, yes you do. Everyone has a purpose."
"I don't. My purpose was to kill them." He gestures towards Scott and I. Scott's eyes bug out for a moment and his jaw drops slightly.
Before any of us get a chance to argue back, six people (very important people at that) walk into my home. The Council.
Their eyes widen at the scene in front of them. Hundreds of dead bodies lay in my living room. I'm covered in wolf guts. Avi's got Lycan blood all around his torso. Scott's Soul eyes are still present.
"What went on here?" One of the people says. He eyes me carefully and then Scott before locking eyes with Connie.
"Sir Oswyn, I can assure you there was a logical reason as to why we did this." He doesn't speak. He only raises an eyebrow in wonder and lets her continue. "Alexander Kirk compelled hundreds of harmless victims to come and kill Mitchell and Scott. After he attacked Scott and lost his life to Mitchell's hands, the rest of the army charged."
He nods in understanding. A woman steps forward. "But that doesn't explain why I smell two new vampires in this room. I don't know that one-" She points directly at Scott. "Or that one." She points at the boy still in Connie's grasp.
I sigh and answer to her "Adelyn, we are responsible for both of these people. Alexander left Scott in the street to transition on his own and I found him and, with the help of Kevin, helped him transition. The boy-"
"The boy is one of my best friends." Scott cuts in. "We go to the same highschool, we used to hang out every single day. He was with me at the club when I was changed. He would never kill anyone."
Another man in the group scoffs. "Buffoonery. How are we supposed to believe that?" He mutters.
"Yes," Oswyn presses. "How can we be sure that Scott here is telling the truth."
"Because he can show you!" Connie blurts out. All of our heads whip towards her. Then they all slowly turn towards Scott.
"What, did someone catch it on video or something?" One of the women in the group chuckles. "We should just kill them all and go, Oswyn. We're wasting our time."
"I would like to see." He says and steps up to Scott. "Show me, young boy. Show me everything."
Scott takes a deep breath and looks up at the man in the eyes. Then he places both of his hands on either side of Oswyn's face.
