" Congratulations to Adien Grimshaw for getting accepted into many out of country Universities on full scholarship, but he has decided to take a year off to travel. While still taking online courses to graduate with his best friend. He loves and missed you Mrs.Stone"
Wait, what!
I sat there confused as I looked at Adien going on stage before turning back and offering me a huge smile. How. Is. This. Even. Possible? By now everyone was looking at me with awe. Everyone already knew how close me and Adien are so I don't think they were too surprised about this. I know that the seniors got to pick what they wanted to be said on stage, but that was like college and break wise. I wonder that he did to pull this off. I looked at Adien one more time as he came off stage and he winked at me mouthing 'surprise'.
" Now would everyone welcome Victoria Jes for her goodbye speech to our lovely seniors." Our principal announced which caught everyone's attention. But I'm really tired and as much as this might be good I really just want to leave.
Vicky walked on stage in her getup and walked to the mic with the fakest smile I've ever seen.
" Congratulations to our special class of 2014. The one thing the sets this class apart from past graduates isn't only their hard work and dedication, but three special students. What they have not only done for the school the last four years, but also the good name they have given this * whisper* hell hole I mean good school. They may be the first to do this but hopefully not the last. So thank you and congratulations to our wonderful and *cough* stupid * cough* bright seniors. Will Adien Grimshaw, Gabriela Dawson, and ugh! Sharon Stone please come on stage and accept these awards. And thanks for all you three have done and will continue to do for the rest of your life. Because on behalf of eh me and the school board we know you guys will do wonders. For everyone here too, you've all worked so hard and you will do great things if you keep at it" I guess she couldn't control her attitude & bitterness. All three of us went to accept out awards which Vicky ended up having to give us. Which may I add was the icing in the cake. After that we were applauded by our fellow classmates as we went back to our seats.
"Finally" I groaned after Vicky had given her speech. Which may I add was golden, I might or might not have took a video. Just collecting some memories that's all ;) .
" Hey cool it girly. We're almost outta here" Adien said laughing because he knows how impatient I can get.
" What? I'm hungry and tired. It's been a long week" it really has with packing and making sure everything in London is good. Since this was my idea I felt as if I should make sure everything is running smoothly. Even though I know the stress and anxiety isn't good for me because it causes me to have lack of sleep.
" Aw babe it's okay we'll leaving soon and you'll get to sleep, alright?"
I really didn't feel like talking anymore so I just smiled up at him waiting for our tradition ceremony.
" Attention seniors and guest" our school principal echoed through the microphone. " Would you please stand to honor and complete our most cherished tradition: the moving of the tassel and cap toss." As everyone stood the room went silent. All the can be heard was the light music being played in the background. " I would like to present the class of 2014. Would you all please move your tassel from the left to the right" With that everyone in unison completed the task. " Congratulations seniors and good luck in your future. You'll truly be missed!"
The words we were all waiting for. In a nick to time all that can be seen was caps being tossed in the air.
' Woo!'
'We did it'
'Finally, now we party!'
Was some of the things that can be heard with all the cheers coming from the students family and friends.
'I can't believe this' I mumbled to myself as I caught my cap. I'm finally done with high school. Four years in the one place and now I'm moving to somewhere completely different. With new people, new environment, and new friends. But I can ensure I will never forget anyone back home, I'll never forget where I started from. Due to my slight claustrophobia Adien and our family waited till it got more empty before heading out. I've never really been a fan of huge crowds. Once it was clear enough we all headed out on the grass to take a couple pictures.
" Oh hey Gabby! Come on take a picture with us" I yelled to Gabby before she left.
" Of course" she offered and smile and stood next to me. So now I was standing in the middle with Adien to my left and Gabby to my right.
" Okay smile graduates" my mom and uncle Dan beamed with excitement.
I said goodbye to Gabby and her parents as we were going to see them later. Since uncle Dan found out about the party he insisted on having it on his estate with all our friends and their families. Uncle Dan, if you haven't already noticed, is the biggest donor in school. He believes in making getting an education something students want. He is also the founder of a pretty big company found around the world, mainly in Europe, UK & Ireland, and the US including Canada. Awesome I know haha.
" Okay come on guys in the car" uncle Dan called to Adein and I. " Do you guys want to head over to the estate and already be there or go home?" we both pondered on the question for a second before answering at the same time.
" The estate"
" Haha okay then come on. Adien, Sharon, and I will go in my car. Lori will drive her car and your mom and uncle in their car. Good, okay let's go"
Everyone got in their cars and began the drive to the estate. Since the house was only used in the summertime and winter break the drive there can he a little long. It takes about and hour with light traffic and up to 1hr 45mins with heavy traffic. The drive might be long, but it's completely worth it.
Adien and I sat in the back while uncle Dan drove. We had small talk about Paris, London, and how've we been until I let a small yawn escape my mouth. In my defense I've barely been sleeping with everything going on. I never told Adein that though because I didn't want him to worry. So I tried to hide the sign of tiredness the best to my ability. Failing miserably Adien had noticed.
" Tired short stack?"
" Huh what no, I'm fine" And of course me always having bad internal timing let another yawn slip.
" Are you sure about that because your eyes say otherwise" I can hear uncle Dan lightly laughing upfront. When I'm tired my eyes tend to get lighter than their usual light brown. They turn somewhat reddish.
" Okay fine maybe a little. It's been a long day"
I quickly said trying to avoid telling him the whole truth. Even though I can see by the way he's looking at me, he knows I'm not being 100% right now. As willing as I might be to tell him I don't want him to worry. Especially uncle Dan he treats me like his own daughter and he can be ten times more protective than Adien. So before he can say anything I gave him the ' Please drop it for now, I'll tell you later' look. Which may I add worked. Yess!
" Here lay down and go to sleep. I'll wake you up when we get there. Okay? it's a long drive and don't say no"
" Haha okay, thanks. And wake me up if you get uncomfortable or annoyed" Adien just shook his head and laughed.
" I'll never get annoyed" With that I put my head on his lap and closed my eyes. With habit Adien began to play with my hair and I immediately felt myself grow sleepy. He knows when people play with my hair I start to feel sleepy. Just before I drift into darkness I can hear someone whisper in my ear.
" I love you short stack. Sleep well"
Smiling I let sleep completely overtake me.
