We meet again

chapter 6

Instead of going to classes Cameron, Ronnie and I sit in my dorm room and study the file we took about the death.

But Ronnie had to step out of the room when she for a phone call.

"So what did you mean 'your past is finally catching up with you'?" Cameron asks

"This has happened to me before, it's Micheal he doesn't want me to be happy. Everytime I start to settle down in a place he will find a way to stir things up" I say

"Micheal? I thought you guys handled him" He says

"Trust me it's him and if it's not then we have more problems to face"

"Just out of curiosity how did he stir things up back home I don't remember any deaths" Cameron asks

"Well there was one girl named Tessa and a boy named Dean, oh and dean's brother then Charlie" I say

"How come the town never heard about it"

"My family has connections and we paid off the sheriff" I say
Then Caleb bust through the door

"I saw Micheal" he says out of breath

"Told ya so" I say to Cameron

"Wait so you knew he was here" Caleb asks

"Well I had my suspensions..." I trail off

"Why are you acting so calm he tried to kill us, not just you all of us. You are not the only one walking around with a Target on their back" Caleb says

"I think I'm gonna go now" Ronnie and Cameron says

"Well I'm coming too" I say following them and trying to avoid Caleb

"No you are not going anywhere" Caleb says tugging me back by my shirt

"Caleb if you don't let me leave I'm going to scream" I say

"No you will not" he says

"Reese I am done trying to be civil" he continues

"Caleb hate to break it to you but that's not civil" I say

"Okay but Micheal our worst enemy is back and your over here Making jokes. When you died I couldn't sleep or eat knowing that you were dead and he got away with it scratch free. I slept with one eye open for weeks hoping he would come back for revenge so that I could kill him" he says

"..." I try to find the words to say but nothing comes out

"You want to know something else, the old Reese never would have done half the shit you have" he says

"Well the old Reese died, the minute I decided to sacrifice myself for you and the others" I say

"Oh my God quit trying to make this out like your the good guy because news flash you aren't. You left us. No one asked you to do what you did" he says

"Caleb I don't know what you want from me I apologized, I don't know what else I could do to express how sorry I am because I really am sorry but I'm not going to sit here and let you yell at me for a mistake. So can you leave" I say

"Fine whatever​, I have gang business to attend to" he says.
He gets up to leave

"One more thing Reese.."

"What?" I ask

"When everything around you starts to crumble, just know that it was your fault and that you have no one but your brothers because when it comes down to it Cameron and Ronnie will always be on my side" he says before leaving

For some reason what he said inflicted more pain than any weapon could have. I walk to the door and drive my first through it leaving a huge hole in it. Then I crawl into bed and drift to sleep

*Dream*

I'm running down the middle of the street but all you could hear was the pitter patter of my feet and my short uneven breathe. As I run I trip and fall to the ground and my attacker who turns out to be Caleb hovers over me and carves a B into my forearm "B for betrayal" he hisses as I let out a scream of pain.

I wake up screaming and covered in sweat and Ronnie rushes into my room "what's wrong?"

"It's my fault" I say

"Reese, what is your fault" she ask worried

"Everything. My world is crumbling and it's my fault" I say reciting what Caleb said to me as I leave the dorm and walk outside into the middle of the campus courtyard, where I wonder around until Ronnie call Cameron and they take me back to my dorm.

Next day

I wake up and take a cool shower trying to wake up, after everything that happened last night I didn't get much sleep. Once I finish showing I wrap up in a towel and walk to my room and pick out my outfit and lay in bed until Ronnie is ready because we walk to the cafeteria together, then I hear a knock on my door and I'm shocked to see Carson

"If you're here to yell at me save your breathe Caleb already did" I say

"Actually that's why I'm here, I heard about what happened" she says

"Who else knows?" I ask

"The whole gang. But I wanted to apologise" she says

"Carson-" I start

"No, shut up. I'm going to say this once and only once" she says

"But-" I start

"Reese I'm not ready to forgive you yet but I want to work on our friendship because I miss hanging out and what happened last night you didn't deserve" she says

"Thanks" I say wiping away a stray tear

"Don't go crying on me now Montgomery" she says

I give her a smile

"Come on let's go see if Ronnie is ready so that we can all go have breakfast" she says

"What about Ella?" I ask

"She's coming too. She would never pass up food" she says. We text Ronnie and Ella and told them where to meet us. We walk to the cafeteria and her into line. I order a bagel with cream cheese and Carson gets a bowl of scrambled eggs, we walk to a corner table and sit down.

"So.. are you and Ella still playing soccer?" I ask

"We play just for fun, we were all offered scholarship but with the whole thing with you and Charlie none of us were in the right state to keep playing" she says right as Ella and Ronnie walk up and Cameron and Caleb are in tow.
