"London!" I smiled happily at the brunette, my whole body smelled like gasoline and cigarettes. I didn't smoke, I was working at he gas station to get some money for my moms chemo. She waved, happily dropping a twenty in my money cup. I had gathered about 400 this week including money taken away by taxes. This was the busiest gas station in New York City. London geared up as Yvonne and Tyra arrived. London started as they geared up, then we all went through the lines rather quickly. One person per pump, we were allowed to pump gas because we had an adult supervising, my cousin Anya, and we're given permission by the owner, my mom. By the end of the day we had raised over 500, most of which would go to taxes. Then the rest would go to my Moms chemo. London had to go to Cheerleading halfway through then came back. Yvonne left for home at 6:30 and Tyra stayed he whole time. We didn't leave our stations one and ate snacks whenever we got hungry and used the bathroom as little as possible. A black car pulled up and I made my way to the drivers side.
"Hello Sir, what can I getcha?"
"Fill it up, regular." He gave me a slight nod I smiled, "alright."
He gave me his card and I swiped it, 60 I charged him the amount needed and then handed him his card back and put the handle in, and turned the gas on letting it fill. I whistled a bit when I heard Yvonne.
"Yo, Blasko! Need some help down here!" I went over to Yvonne.
"It's stuck." She sighed.
"You didn't finish the machine. It won't unlock until you click finished." I clicked the button then the gas pump clicked and she grabbed it, pulling it out. We thanked the man and he drove off then I went back to my station. Pressing the finish button on mine, then I gave the guy a nod.
That's when I noticed who he was, Lin-Manuel Miranda.
•at the hospital•
I opened the door to my moms room and Mia looked at me.
"Good morning." I said to her softly, she smiled.
"Morning. How's your mom doing?"
"Bad. They might take her off life support." I sighed, She frowned.
"Aw no, is she all you have left?"
"Yeah.. it's sad."
"Aw, it's ok. I'll put in good word, see if I can get you someone if she passes."
"Thank you."
We talked for a bit, she was nice. We traded numbers and by the end of the night I felt something I hadn't felt in a while.
True happiness.
