MY SHIFT FINALLY came to an end a couple of hours later. I walked out of the DX to find Johnny sitting on a bench waiting for me.

Johnny walked up to me, "Ready to go?"

I shook my head. "Can we go over to my house first? I want to change out of this gross uniform."

He chuckled. "Sure, let's get going, we don't want to miss the movie."

We started walking in an awkward silence. I don't know why, I'm never awkward around Johnny. I just get this weird feeling around him, but I ignore it.

After walking for 20 minutes in awkward silence, we reached my house and I ran upstairs to change. I know we were only hanging out, but I wanted to be a bit dressier than usual.

I wore dark blue trousers with a grey long sleeve that had a peterpan collar. I brushed my frizzy hair and quickly gathered it in a messy bun and slipped on my white sneakers.

That may sound more casual than dressy, but we are greasers after all so whatever doesn't have holes and stains is considered fancy.

I remembered to grab my switchblade this time and went downstairs to find Johnny and Two-bit talking.

"Ready?" I asked Johnny.

He looked surprised to see me, eyeing me up and down quickly. "Yeah, let's go."

We walked towards the door before Two-bit said, "Now I know y'all aren't going on a date or anything, but don't do anything stupid." He tossed Johnny a plastic wrapper that looked oddly familiar. It was a condom.

"What? You gotta use protection!" He started laughing as he pushed us out and closed the door.

We were both red from embarrassment. I sighed, "Sorry about Two-bit, he can be a pain the ass."

Johnny threw the package out. "Like I didn't already know that. It's cool, I've seen worse." We both laughed at Johnny's remark as we walked to the Nightly Double.

It was a chilly night, and the cool wind blew past us as I tugged on my long sleeve to keep warm. When we reached out destination, we sneaked in by going under the fence. Dally showed us this trick a couple years back.

Once we settled in our seats, Johnny spoke up. "I'll go get us some popcorn and coke. Stay here, savvy?" I nodded and he walked to the concession stand.
