MY DREADFUL ALARM blared in my ears as I groggily turned it off. Realizing I still didn't change from last night, I grabbed whatever was in my closet and quietly went downstairs.

Of course, Two-bit was not in sight. I went to the kitchen, avoiding the glass shards that were still scattered all over the floor, and fixed breakfast for myself. I made a mental note to clean that up later.

I placed my dishes in the sink and sweeped up the mess.

Ever since Two-bit was hardly ever present in the morning, I rode to school by bus with Johnny and Ponyboy, since we are Greasers and we can't walk alone, as Socs will see us as an easy target and jump us.

While I was waiting by the bus stop, Johnny and Ponyboy arrived. I'm not sure if they knew about our quarrel last night, but if they did, I hope they don't mention it.

"G'morning, boys." I smiled.

Johnny gave a small wave while Ponyboy said, "'Morning. Say Nina, you got some mighty dark eye bags. Didn't sleep well?"

I yawned before nodding. "Had to re-write a report for Mrs. Farley. She wanted it to be as long as her lanky toothpick legs." I let out an awkward chuckle as I realized how stupid my excuse and joke was.

All the two boys did was grin before the bus arrived and we stepped in. I sat down alone in the far back while Johnny and Ponyboy sat together somewhere at the front. No Socs go to school by bus because they'd rather ride in their pristine vehicles. I didn't mind anyway, at least I had one less worry to occupy my mind.

The whole day, I avoided Zachary. I didn't want to talk about last night, and even though I haven't seen Two-bit all day, he'd probably come out of nowhere beat the tar out of me.

Just as I was about to leave the school building, someone pulled me to the back of the school. I quickly elbowed the person only to realize it was Zachary who was now groaning in pain.

"Ow, what the hell was that for?!" He rubbed his side.

"I'm sorry. I thought you were a child predator pulling me in a white van never seeing daylight again." I retorted.

He sighed. "Look, if you're mad about what happened last night, I'm sorry. Even though I don't know what I did wrong-"

"Hold on a sec," I interrupted. "Did you just say you don't know what you did wrong?" I asked in an angry tone.
