I remember when you were all mine

Watched you changing in front of my eyes

What can I say

Now that I'm not the fire in the cold

Now that I'm not the hand that you hold

As you're walking away

Will you call me to tell me you're alright

Cause I worry about you the whole night

Don't repeat my mistakes

I won't sleep 'til you're safe inside

If you're home I just hope that you're sober

Is it time to let go now you're older

Don't leave me this way

I won't sleep 'til you're safe inside

I feel my phone vibrating in my pocket as the professor speaks and writes on the board. When the vibrating stops, I look back to the front. It's been a week since Scott's birthday, and it's finally Friday. I am looking forward to class ending so I can make a quick run to the store to buy myself some ice cream and then go home to watch reruns of Friends.

The vibrating of my phone snaps me out of my thoughts, and I look at the professor, who has his back to us. Pulling out my phone, I see two missed calls and one message from Zach.

"I dropped Scott off at Mom's. I'll be home in the morning."

Brief and simple.

Zach and Shane are driving to Shane's cousin's wedding, and Zach promised he'd only stay for a few hours before driving back home. I told him it was fine if he wanted to stay for the whole wedding, but he insisted on coming home. Josie also insisted I take the night off and that she'd have Scott for the whole weekend.

I push my phone back into my pocket and focus for the last twenty minutes of class. When we're dismissed, I check my phone again to see a missed call from Jane.

"Kay!" I hear after the first ring. "I have something planned for tonight, and before you can make up some lame excuse, I know Scott is staying with his grandparents."

I sigh. Damn. There go my plans with Ben and Jerry.

"Fine. What did you have in mind?" I ask as I walk through campus. She babbles on about a new nightclub that just opened and how she managed to get us on the list.
