The only way you can know

Is give it all you have

And I hope that you don't suffer

But take the pain

Hope when the moment comes

You say...

I, I did it all

I, I did it all

I owned every second

That this world could give

I saw so many places

And things that I did

Of every broken bone

I swear I lived...

I stand in the kitchen, cutting up an onion when I hear the loud crashing noise outside. I jump when the wind rattles the window. The TV in the living room breaks signal and the man on the news telling us to stay indoors disappears. I go back to the kitchen and return to finish the dinner before Zach and Scott get home. When another thunder crashes through skies, I jump and the knife falls from my hand.

As I bend down to pick it up, I hear the front door open and close. I stand up again and look over and see Zach walking towards me with Scott in his arms. There's yet another loud crash outside and Scott whispers and tightens his arms around Zach's neck.

"It's pure hell out there," Zach grumbles and brings the little body closer to him. "You okay, buddy?"

My heart melts when Scott snuggles closer to Zach and shakes his head, "It's scawy." I smile at them both as they move towards the bedroom. I return to the stove to finish cooking the food when another lightning hits and then there's a loud crash followed by a car honking.

What the hell?

Turning off the stove, I walk over and open the door, tightening the cardigan around my body. Squinting, I try to see what's happening when I see a truck in the driveway parked diagonally, its head kissing a small car. I watch as Shane exits his truck, rounding the corner and glaring at the small car.

"Can you not drive? Are you blind?" He yells, the rain making his voice sound mushed.

The small car's door opens and out steps Jane, her eyes shooting fire. "Am I blind?" Her arms flailing like a madwoman. "You all but drove over my car." She pushes at Shane's chest, going over to look at the damage.
