Casey: Welcome to Dead Society

After the fall from the cliff, I felt as if I was being pulled into some vast, blank, void space-a place untold, unheard of...

It was as if some kind of an invisible, strong and powerful rope had tightened itself around me and was pulling me. Pulling me into infinity itself. No pain, no feelings, no tears-nothing! A wave of calmness  washed over me. - It was soothing, infact, a bit too relaxing. My body became limp and I slowly drifted off to a peaceful sleep.

I don't know for how long I had been sleeping but when I opened my eyes, I found myself standing in front of a gigantic building. It was built of pure polished silver, with gold embossments and intricately carved designs embedded with precious stones.
A large beautiful garden filled with fragrance and taste surrounded it.
Some people were strolling around in there.
The main entrance was actually a high arched pillar with deep burgundy rubies forming the words "Welcome to Dead Society."
Two burly looking guards stood there grimly. Besides, the entire place was shielded by some magical current that some times flickered off menacing sparks.

All my life, I had been afraid of death. I had seen people suffering. I used to think that it would be horrible. Being dead was a nightmare to me. Never did I know that there was nothing to be scared of. As long as you didn't die for reasons like suicides (which, to be honest, still clung to me as nightmares) there was joy on the other side.

I walked in and found myself in a huge hall swarming with people. Young and old-all were busy talking and laughing . A group of glamorously dressed ladies with sharp pointed noses and lots of makeup were literally guffawing-Haw! Haw! Haw! Just Iike that!

Some children were running around chasing each other. Luminoscent fireflies fluttered around the place, lighting up the entire hall, which was otherwise painted a deep, dark blue.

Something gave me the feeling that the ceiling was not painted though; stars planets, comets - everything painted on it shifted and moved with time...
It was mesmerizing!

I was so lost in all of these that I didn'tt hear someone calling me from behind.

      "Miss Casey Walkins?"

I turned around with start. A young lady wearing a casual tee and jeans , holding a clipboard in her hands was beaming at me. Her blonde hair was tied in a neat ponytail and her azure eyes sparkled in the Firefly-light.

"Are you miss Casey Walkins?" she asked with a shrill sugared voice.

"Y-yes..."

" Good. so you're Casey Walkins- 16 -years old -died because of a push from a cliff- liv-"

That's what struck me.

" Wait a second! A push from a cliff?" I  arched my brows, saying, '' it wasn't a push...it was a fall... just a nasty faulty fall."

" Oh dear! was it?" She  looked surprised and to confirm things, glanced at her clipboard.

"Hmm...uh huh... Ohhh..." she nodded her head gracefully and then looked up, giving a dazzling smile.

   Something was off about it.

"Oh darling! You're probably right! This board's getting old. I'll talk to Mr. Infinite about it. Oh! That reminds me," she'd fisted the board," You have to meet Mr.Infinite. Now, c'mon sweety!" Smiling and with one firm grip on my arm, she began pulling me towards a large wooden door at one end of the hall.

"Hey! Stop it." I yanked my arm away and stopped adamantly.

Just cause I was dead and new here and all didn't mean that I would trust any stranger who came up my way, cooeing and beaming sweetly at me.

"What's wrong, honey?" she looked confused.

"Wrong? First, I land up dead in some society for the dead, then I find you beaming and telling me to meet Mr. Infinite, I'm sorry, but who the heck keeps the name Infinite
Moreover, I don't even know anything about you or about this place and you're asking me what's wrong? Also--"

"Oh... I get it." she waved her hand and beamed.

Seriously? What was up with the beaming and all?

Before she could say something else, her clipboard beeped up all of a sudden. (Don't ask me how that happened!).

"Oh My! someone's died again. Hmm...lets see... it's a Mr.Winters....Seventeen years old... killed himself with a deliberate extra intake of pills," she frowned, "What's wrong with you people anyway? Don't you see the wonders that life presents before you? Aren't y'all keen enough to explore the wide horizons of life? Suicides are simply idiotic, foolish!"

I stared at her, wide-eyed, too confused to take it all in.
"I didn't commit suicide, you know--"

Ignoring me, she continued,"Right now, he's in the hall of Sorrow... suits him. Mrs. Harrisson will take care of him. I'm tired of all these suiciders..."
