LYANNA HAD SPENT THE MAJORITY OF THE MORNING GOING AROUND THE CAMP, TRYING TO GET TO KNOW ALL THE MEN SHE WOULD FIGHT ALONGSIDE ON THE BATTLEFIELD. SHE KNEW SOME OF THEM FROM GROWING UP IN WINTERFELL.
Robb had called a meeting, and Lyanna waited outside the tent for him. He was on his way back from talking to Jaime. During breakfast, Lyanna had told him everything Jaime had said to her. He wanted to hear it himself. Greywind, Robb’s direwolf, ran towards Shadow, and they started playing as Lyanna smiled, watching Robb approach her.
“You were right, he hates direwolves.” Robb laughed. “He didn’t deny anything. Cersei…Joffrey…nothing.”
“Because everything is true!” Lyanna pointed out. “Come on, they have the Lannister lad in the tent, waiting for you.” Lyanna started to turn around to head into the tent, but Robb grabbed her arm and faced her. Lyanna looks at him to see he has a serious expression on his face. “Robb?”
“I need to ask you something, Lyanna.” He pulled her off to the side. Night was falling, and the majority of Robb’s bannermen were either getting themselves ready for bed or drinking. “My men, they're good, strong, yes?”
“Yes. They’re good soldiers. Loyal.” She tells him, a little confused. “Why?”
“None of them are as good, strong, or even as loyal as you.” He told her. “I want to ask you if you’d become the Commander of my Kingsguard.”
“What?” Lyanna looked at him like he had ten heads.
“You’d be my Lord Commander. Or Lady Commander. It doesn’t matter.” Robb laughed.
“I am not worthy enough for this honour, Robb.” Lyanna shook her head.
“Oh, will you hush.” He tutted. “You’re the one I trust the most. You’re my sister. My best friend, Lyanna.”
Lyanna pulled him into a tight hug. “Robb.”
He kissed the top of her head. “Right, seen as that’s sorted, let’s step inside.” Robb pulled back the door and stepped inside, being followed by Lyanna.
As Robb and Lyanna walked in, everyone bowed to Robb, and they walked to the top table and sat down. Catelyn, who was already sitting, glared at Lyanna.
“You’re Ser Alton Lannister?” Robb asked as Lyanna watched the Lannister lad shake with fear.
“I am, Your Grace.” His voice was like a whisper.
“I offer your cousins peace if they meet my terms. First, your family must release my sister, Sansa.” Robb looked over at Catelyn. “Second, my father’s bones must be returned to us, so he may rest beside his brother and sister in the crypts beneath Winterfell.”
