THE IRONBORN FLEET SAT IN THE HARBOUR, SAILS FURLED. THE SCORPIONS WERE FULLY MANNED IN PREPARATION FOR THE COMING ONSLAUGHT. EURON STRIDED TO THE FOREDECK OF HIS SHIP AS THE SOLDIERS BEHIND HIM LOADED THE SCORPION. HIS EYES SCANNED THE FAR DISTANCE, LOOKING FOR A SIGN OF ENEMY FORCES.
"Eyes on the horizon!" One soldier shouted. "Load the scorpion!"
On another ship, Lannister soldiers loaded a massive bolt onto their scorpion.
Lannister archers hustled into position on the outer wall of King's Landing. Below them, city dwellers ran towards the Red Keep for protection. Scorpions lined the walls of King's Landing, loaded and ready.
Down at the streets, a stream of citizens rushed anxiously towards the Red Keep. Lannister soldiers marched double time in the opposite direction.
"This way!" A woman shouted to her two children. "Come on!"
"Clear the streets now!" A soldier echoed as he marched.
Above the crowded street, citizens shuttered their windows. Below, people took shelter in their homes.
Lyanna, with her cloak hood over her head, walked calmly towards the Red Keep, while the anxious citizens screamed around her.
Down another street, Jaime, cloaked and inconspicuous, removed the glove from his golden hand. He looked around. Jaime slid through the gate down the centre of a Golden Company battalion as they marched in time. The gates closed with a great clang. Jaime continued to walk quietly towards the Keep.
Outside the Walls of the King's Landing, the Golden Company stood at attention. Some of their faces betrayed their trepidation towards the forthcoming battle. Harry Strickland guided his mount in front of them. His eyes were fixed on the distance, where the Stark forces stretched across the panorama.
At the Stark-Targaryen forces, the battered and snarling Northmen were crowded together. Behind them, the Dothraki and the Unsullied stood ready. On a rise just behind them stood Jon, Davos, and Greyworm. Tyrion joined them as men filed past. Greyworm walked down the rise. They looked at the battlements and forces in the near distance.
"If you hear the bells ring, they've surrendered." Tyrion said to Jon. "Call off your men." Jon looked at Tyrion with apprehension. He left, followed by Davos.
Inside the tower of the Red Keep, Cersei walked to the window and surveyed the great capital city. In the far distance was the wall where her loyal forces were stationed and the great beyond where the Stark and Targaryen forces awaited. Behind her, Qyburn and The Mountain stood ready.
Back down at the grounds of the Red Keep, masses of city dwellers continued to move through the courtyards, gates, and walls to the protection of the Red Keep. The crowd chatted as they churned towards the gate. Among them, Lyanna became frustrated at the slow pace. She grabbed a man by the shoulder and brushed past him. She picked up the pace to make it through before the gate sealed. People rushed through, but the gate closed before a mother and her daughter could get through.
