“Lu…cas…” I slowly turned and saw Chloe staring at me while her eyes are still half-open.

“C-Chloe? Is this real?” I asked, bewildered.

“Lu…cas…” She said, reaching out her hand to me.

I rushed towards her and held her hand. My tears started to fall as soon as I realized that she’s really awake.

“Oh God, I missed you so much Chloe!” I said as the tears keeps on rushing down my pale cheeks.

“Shh… Don’t cry. I’m here, Lucas.” She said with a smile on her face.

“I love you, Chloe. Don’t you ever leave me again, okay?”

“I won’t, I promise. I love you too, Lucas.”

I hugged her as tight as I can and planted kisses all over her face. I can’t bear to lose her again, not this time.

“How long was I asleep?” She suddenly asked.

“Two years.” I replied.

“That long? Oh my… I’m so sorry Lucas, how could I do that to you?” It was her turn to cry so I kissed her tears away.

“It’s not your fault. Don’t blame yourself.” I said as I hushed her.

“What’s important now is that you’re already awake. We can now fulfil our dreams together.” I said despite the fact that I know I’m already dying.

She slowly nodded and buried her face on my chest. I stroke her hair with my fingertips as she hummed a song that we both know by heart.

I kissed her forehead as I closed my eyes. Feeling tired as always.

“Lucas…”

“Hm?” I asked while my eyes are still closed.

“I love you.” She said sweetly.

I opened my eyes and peeked at her. “I love you, too. Good night, my love.”

“Lucas, tell me what you’ve been doing for the past two years that I was asleep.” She said her voice full of authority.

I just stared at her. What am I supposed to say, that I was doing my best to fight this illness that’s slowly killing me for the past two years?
