"First party of the school year! Woooh! Come on you never go with us Luke." Claims Tim.

"That's because those parties are stupid." Counters Luke tossing a piece of candy at Tim's head.

"Really?" Jack starts "Stupid? Have you seen how girls dress at those parties? And there is a pool, and we all know what that means. Bikinis. Bikinis man! Tiny itty bitty triangles covering the goods and-"

"Dude, dude i'm out. You guys go have fun, i'm good. See ya, i'm heading home." Waving over his shoulder as he walks to his car, Luke sets out for a night in of good old fashioned cooking.

...

Pulling up the long driveway to his oversized house he shares with his father, Luke turns off his car and walks in.

Hearing numerous voices in the living room he heads over to investigate but making sure to not be seen. Looking in he spots his father and some associates.

"He's just not putting effort into it anymore. Once he graduates, Kane Industries gets handed over to him and we at the company would like to know there is going to be stability in our future. How can we tell the investors their money is in good hands if the hands don't even want it." Rich, one of the head people working for his father states.

"He wants it, I know he does. He is one of the best in his class-"

"George, he is doesn't always go to his classes-"

"He's my son! He may not go to his classes all the time but he still gets all A's. He can and will take over. I know he will." Downing a glass of whiskey, George Kane turns his back to his employees/friends. "Next week is the Southern Nevada Colleges yearly charity dance." putting spite into the word 'dance' and turning back to face the group of men "There will be a bunch of important businessmen there scoping out young graduates for their companies. This is the perfect opportunity to get Luke and them familiarized with each other for deals and negotiations in the future."

Hearing enough of his father planning his life, Luke heads back out of the house. Hopping back in his car he decides to head over to his hole in the wall bar across town.

This bar is one of his favorite places to go when he wants to be alone since it's a ways away from campus so no drunk college students can stumble upon it and get their 'rave' on. It has a lovely spanish vibe to it and the crowd is full of people who worked their way through their lives to support their families, yet still had stories of little Sammy's first soccer goal, or Bella's dance recital.

Luke liked hearing their stories, almost as much as they liked having someone to tell them to. And he would choose that over a bunch of sweaty, horny, people grinding and having sex with random strangers for one night waking up with a massive hangover.

...

Sitting at the bar talking with a father of 3, Luke notices out of the corner of his eye a group of 6 people his age walk into the bar. Geez now people are finding this place. If this keeps up I won't have this place anymore to hide away. Suddenly five out of the six hit the remaining person on the back of his head. Consequently Luke had been taking a sip of his beer at the time and nearly did a spit take trying not to laugh out loud. Clearly they were not expecting the bar's customers to be...older.

"You alright Luke?" asks the father. "Yah i'm fine, just saw something funny happen."

Looking over his shoulder and seeing the group sitting down at a table near the dance floor, Julio looks back to see Luke staring down one girl in particular. "Got your eye on one don't ya?"

Whipping his head back to Julio "What, huh? No,no, I uh, just,um..." Looking back at the brunette heading a serious looking discussion with the others, which apparently turned out good judging by the hug she gave another over the table making her dress ride up but not enough to give a show.

Sighing and looking back at Julio "ok maybe. Nothing's gunna happen though. Besides I think she is with someone. Look, that guy has his arm around her. I ain't one to meddle." Turning to order another beer from the bartender.

"Maybe not. Look again."

Looking back he sees the man, who had his arm around the girl he was looking at, get up and saunter over to Tina the bartender. One of the younger patrons of the bar. Leaning over the counter he appears to be putting on one of his best flirting skills.

"That flirting is gunna get him nowhere fast with Tina. How long till he figures out she bats for the other team?"

Taking a sip of his beer to hid the smile on his face, Luke responds with "I'm going to go with right about...now." Seeing his flirtatious smile drop as Tina points to the girls at his table, most likely saying she would rather have them, and him quickly pick up a round of beers and shots.

"Haha they learn quick don't they."

"That they do Julio, that they do."
