She was always there, since he first laid eyes on her. All alone, underneath a big shade. He often wondered if anyone else has seen her. Then again, he believes only he could. At first, he would try to ignore her, walking pass quickly, stealing a sneaky glance to see if she noticed. But her eyes were always glued onto the book. Sometime later, he gathered the courage to sit under the tree next to hers, facing the girl, he would spend almost every recess there, claiming to read his books, stealing occasional peeks through the pages. The girl however, seemed to pay no attention to her surrounding, much less someone invisible like him. Enough said, Makishima didn't get much reading done.
A few attempts later, he was lucky to catch her eyelashes fluttering in his direction, her green eyes stared straight at him then quickly down at the pages separating their sight again. Smiling, he closed his book and walked straight to the tree she was under, placing himself right next to her. They stayed like that in silence, each stuck in their own world, until the bell rang. Hearing the disturbance, she shut her book and smiled brightly at him before standing up to go back to class.
