I was starting to love my new friends I'd made, Jack especially. He was super kind, and seemed so proud of his dad Mark, for being nominated for several awards."You're dad's a legend." I smiled.
"No way, Tyler Joseph is so cool. He's young, I bet he's the cool dad, huh?"
"If by cool, you mean freaking out when I asked him to dye my hair, then yes." I got him to laugh, his head thrown back, his blonde hair in his face.
"Speak of the man himself." Louis pointed, my dad rushing over in his embarrassingly blue outfit.
"Lily!" He practically ran over, kissing my cheek furiously.
I groaned in embarrassment. Jakob said a drawn out, "awe." As Louis laughed, and Jack chuckled.
"Yes Dad?" He must've sensed my embarrassment, and stopped.
"Hi kids." He waved to them kindly before grabbing my shoulders. "We have to find our seats. Let's go meet uncle Josh."
"Bye guys." I waved off as they yelled bye in unison.
"Lily!" Dad brought me out of the earshot of cameras and off of the red carpet.
"Yeah, what was that about?"
"I thought I'd lost you babe. I'd never want to be that person that lost his daughter at an award show. Especially your first."
"Awe, I knew where you were, I just lost track of time."
"Well I didn't know where you were. Don't scare me like that ever again. It's bad enough you're being sent to grandma's tomorrow." He frowned.
"Don't remind me." I sighed.
His eyes trailed across my face, he smiled goofily again, his bottom teeth showing, his cheeks pulling high up.
"Let's sit." And we did, finding Josh talking to a man a bit older than him. Mark Hoppus.
"Dad, the boy I was talking to, Jack, that's his dad!" I whispered excitedly.
He bent down to whisper back, "boy?!" Leaving spit on my ear as he hissed the word.
I only laughed, to which he didn't find funny. "You saw him Dad, he's a nice boy, trust me. He's not all grown up and Hollywood, he's just a normal kid, who's dad happens to be a rock legend."
He sighed, rubbed his stubble and took my hand protectively. "No more leaving my sight tonight, young lady." He joked, and didn't seem too upset about the whole boy thing. Half of them were pretty cute in my opinion.
"Stop daydreaming." He joked as we found our seats, twenty one pilots with two guest seats. Jenna couldn't make it, as her dad was in the hospital. For sure she would've made sure I didn't get lost tonight.
"Uncle Josh!" He'd finally come over, leaving his little bromance he'd formed with Mark.
"Hey there sweet-pea." He took his seat next to Dad, I smiled as many celebrities filed in.
Sure Hollywood could be stupid, everyone wanting to know everything about a normal human being, but it had its charm on me.
Well, mostly? Kanye west dancing behind us didn't really wow me. But seeing Disney stars that I used to watch on the tiny TV at the orphanage, on stage and in person, made the whole experience that much more real.
It was even more surprising when one, a certain lady I recognized, sat with Josh at the afterparty. Oh we were talking about this later.
