Dad and I were leaving Los Angeles for a month, and I knew I had business to solve before we left."Okay. I'll be out quick."
"Okay." I went to their doorstep, my flight was leaving soon, this was my last stop in LA.
"Hi Mark, can I talk to Jack?" I smiled.
"Yeah of course. No need to ask, you know that. Unless something's up?" He asked as I felt guilty. Great, not how I wanted this to go down.
"Yeah actually, I think it's best if Jack tells you what I'm going to say."
"Okay." He seemed unsure, I said hi to Skye, and made my way to his room.
"Hey Jack?" I called out, he was on his bed, using his phone.
"Lily. Um what's up?" He asked, as if his girlfriend coming over was a nuisance.
"We–I think we should break up."
He sighed, and nodded. "Okay."
"You're okay with this?"
"I mean yeah. We never really were in a serious relationship, I thought it was obvious with girls constantly over?"
"Oh. Right. Well it's just the past week has been hard, you know, modeling failed, something happened at the party."
"Yeah." He seemed to not care, I didn't bother explaining the party incident. Why would I show my vulnerability to this practical stranger?
"So, I guess this is goodbye. We can still be friends, I just feel like we've always been. Ya know, we never really acted like a couple."
"Yeah." He said again as I realized this was useless. I might as well have broken up with him over text.
"Well, see you later." I rarely saw him, it was at award shows I'd see him at, but I doubted we'd hang out again. No more pretending for the cameras.
"You too." He gave me an awkward hug, I returned it and left, Mark asking if Jack took the news too hard. "I think he'll be just fine Mr. Hoppus, bye." I went back to Josh's car.
"How'd it go?" Josh asked, he mainly wanted to keep his friendship with Mark.
"It went good. He really didn't care." I shrugged.
"Oh."
"I guess I have no friends now, or a boyfriend." I sighed, but my life felt it was getting better, slowly it was.
"You have Sammy, Mom, Josh and Me." Dad giggled.
"Ughhhhh Dad. That doesn't count." I laughed that he'd mention our dog.

As soon as we arrived home, Dad changed into his pajamas, I followed and snuggled into his side, yawning.
"You're too old to be sleeping in here. It's just weird." He laughed as Mom looked at me for taking her spot.
"No I'm not. And I'm scared."
"Then turn on your lamp Lily please, I'm tired." He gave me a push as I just hugged him tighter.
"Dad I'm scared." I told him seriously, all playful tone gone from my voice.
