"I still don't understand why I've got to do this?" I questioned my manager as she cut the last strand of my hair so it rested just below my shoulders.

"You know why Lauren, after what happened last week, we've got about 12 more hours before they start looking for you and I'd prefer for you to be as far away from here as possible when that happens" she spoke, and of course, I already knew why, but that still didn't explain why her plan meant i had to be torn away from my family and my girls.

"Can't you at least tell me when I'll see my family again?" She shook her head. "What about where I'm going?" She shook it again. "How long for?" And again.

"I just need you to work with me here Lauren, I'm doing this for you and I'd like to think that in the five years I've known you, I've at least gained your trust enough for you to listen to me for another 5 minutes" she spoke and I hesitated before nodding, signifying she should continue.

"Miami is no longer safe for neither you or your family Lauren and I hope you understand the seriousness of that. I've been working with a team that have managed to get you a place to stay but I'm afraid that there's going to be a few rules when you arrive there" she retrieved her phone from her back pocket and opened the notes app before continuing.

"First of all, until things here begin to calm down, you mustn't leave the house. News hits the media fast and if it gets out that people are looking for you, I'd give it 5 minutes before they spot you walking in the street or doing a spot of shopping so you must ensure there is no risk at all of that happening" she explained. "Secondly, you cannot tell anyone where you are, who you are with or anything else that could lead to finding your location. Just ensure that you keep yourself to yourself, no tweeting, snap-chatting or anything along those lines, please" she looked at me with pleading eyes. "And finally, try your best to get along with this family, I understand this is hard for you but I promise you it'll be a hell of a lot harder with no one to confide in. These three people are the only ones who know your situation, so try to keep any rants between you and them. That means no shouting, screaming or anything that could draw attention to the house, no matter how mad you get" she smiled, obviously knowing how passionate i can get when someone says something i disagree with. "You get all that Lauren?" She spoke and I nodded. I didn't like a lot of what she was saying but understood it none the less.

"Can I just ask one more thing?" I asked, with a hint of sadness in my voice. My manager sensed my worry, slid her phone back into her pocket and nodded.

"Will I ever see them again? You know, my family?" I questioned, including Normani and ally in that bracket because they're practically family to me now. "I know you're not supposed to tell me" I went on "or maybe you don't even know but I don't want to be just left in the dark, not knowing" I questioned and for the first time, she began acting more like a friend than a manager, scooting closer to me and placing her hand comfortingly on my shoulder.

"I can't make you any promises Lauren, that would be unfair to you, but what I can assure you is that the minute it becomes safe for you to see your family, you'll be the first to know about it. Don't lose hope kid, you never know how this'll turn out" she smiled and I felt a tear fall from my eye as I looked at my watch realising it was time for me to leave. I stood to my feet and trudged over to where my bag was, swinging it onto my back. Everything happened so quickly and I didn't get chance to pack everything I would have liked to. I was left to prioritise which meant i had the one bag on my back and a small suitcase which i trailed behind me as I walked towards the door.

Two men greeted me at the door and I turned to glance at my manager who was now holding her hand out to me for a reason unknown to myself. I gave her a questioning look and she gestured to the phone in my left hand.
