Chapter three

Camila's POV

I woke up the next morning to the sound of ed sheerans album still playing out of my speaker. I had a lecture at 11:30 and it was currently 9 so I thought I'd better get up and start getting ready. I had work due that day but as usual, I'd had it finished about 2 weeks prior to this. It wasn't that I did it to impress my lecturer, I just loved my course and so an essay or song arrangement wasn't that much of a chore for me. My parents have always been proud of how much of a hard worker I am, I achieved straight A's in high schools and my university grades had been just as high. Both me and Dinah attend the same university, her taking dance and me music so we'd often complete work together at the library or in my room. Our friendship was past the point of staying up late and going clubbing, instead, we would much rather get our work done, order takeout and be in bed by 11. I considered her more of a sister to me now than a friend.

I sat up slightly and saw Lauren was still asleep at the end of the bed, for a second I had forgotten she was even here. I took this time to notice the small amount of luggage the girl had brought, she must have been in a hurry to get out. She had a small backpack and a suitcase on the floor which I assumed only contained clothes and a few pictures considering she wasn't allowed to bring any electronics to the house. The question of why she was here was still playing on my mind, however I felt as though it was too soon to ask. I enjoyed the light conversation we shared at the minute, after finding out Lauren was just as sarcastic as I am. After dinner yesterday, Lauren rushed off in a hurry, I was afraid I'd find her crying but when I knocked on the door, she seemed okay. I was going to ask, but I figured if she wanted me to know then she would tell me. Nothing much had changed at the minute and I'm secretly hoping it stays that way because I'd hate for anything drastic to alter from Lauren's presence. I loved things just how they were.

I eventually slipped out of bed, in an attempt to not wake Lauren. I headed straight for the bathroom in my room, brushed my teeth and completed my daily routine of moisturising my skin and applying a light bit of makeup to ensure I didn't look as tired as I feel. Grabbing my bag, i headed out of my bedroom door to grab breakfast.

"Mum? Dad? What are you doing?" I questioned as I saw them pulling some furniture out of the room at the end of the corridor.

"Morning sweetheart, we just figured that since Lauren will be staying here a while, we best give her a place to stay. I think it's about time we all moved on and finally touched this room don't you?" No, no I don't. My anger must have been evident as my mother stepped towards me.

"Moved on? What the hell do you mean moved on?" I said, growing more and more infuriated with the idea.

"Camila, calm down and think about this, please, you know we-"

"You think you can barge in and get rid of this because Lauren decided to show up?" i interrupted. "She's not my fucking sister! Sofi was! And she's gone, don't replace her mum, please" I spoke, my voice cracking towards the end. My mother approached me and tried to comfort me by putting her hand on my shoulder but I soon shrugged her off. Usually, I wouldn't have reacted so harshly, but this felt different.

"Hey, everything okay?" Speak of the fucking devil. Here she was, wandering out of my room like she's god's sent gift.

"Oh and look who showed up, impeccable timing Lauren, although you could have left it another minute, my parents hadn't quite rolled the red carpet out for you yet" I scoffed. Lauren looked confused and my parents glared at me because of my sudden outburst on their precious new house guest.

"Don't look at me like I'm the bad guy here! This is your fault Lauren, everything was fine before you came and fucked everything up. Now you think you can just pack all of Sofi's stuff like this wasn't her home!" I screamed, growing more impatient.
