“Geia sou ti káneis fíle!”
“Argí̱sate !”
“Ach, télos !”
An entire group of exclaiming boys and girls enveloped Hermes as soon as he was out of the car.
“What are they saying?”
“Should’ve used Google translate instead, huh?” Fran smirked. I just rolled my eyes at her and tried to understand what they were saying. One of the girls looked at us and asked Hermes something. He just laughed and smiled back at us. Then one of the guys said something and nudged him playfully. Hermes smacked him and shook his head. They all started glancing at us while laughing and slapping the guy on his back.
“Okay, Fran, I really need to know what they’re saying. They’re talking about us!”Just then, the guy who got smacked on his back approached us, still smiling. When he got closer, I could see the laugh lines along the sides of his mouth. He extended a hand toward me.
“Konstantinos. You call me Kon.” He shook my hand, still smiling.
He has dimples. I think I just forgot how to breathe.
“Leanna.” I finally closed my mouth and smiled at him.
“You can call her Lee.” Fran helped. I glared at her, because that just made it more obvious.I looked behind at the group that was coming up. It was like Mount Olympus descended down to Earth, except that the gods and goddesses swapped their robes for shorts and t shirts.
Thank god I packed some make-up.“I told you, you like my friends!” Hermes winked at Fran.
“Yeah, you should’ve warned us a little more seriously.” She eyed the guys like they were pieces of meat. If you thought in the way Fran did, maybe they were.Hermes had introduced us to all six of the boys and girls, and I said hello to Kon, Marie, Crista, and Hector. And then, the small gang started walking toward the festival.
While walking, we got to know them better. They were all in college together, in their first year, around a year elder to us. The easy banter between Kon and Hermes made me feel they were closer than siblings, like Fran and I were.Listening to them, an outsider could never guess that they’d known each other for just a year. They seemed so close, cracking inside jokes and poking each other. It seemed like a nice, easygoing, group. Like a group you could have fun with, without complications. Like a group I’d want to be part of.
As the others walked on, Kon hung behind and walked with me. I took the opportunity to ask him what they were talking about earlier.
“Oh that is nothing. We were just happy that Hermes finally came. And I was asking if you girls were…..together.” He reddened.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” I glared.
“I just thought-“
“Yeah, yeah you thought two girls, alone, backpacking, they have to be together?”
Kon laughed. “Well I’m glad you’re not. It would be a shame for all the boys.” He smiled.
Breathe, Lee, breathe. It’s just his dimples and the fact that he’s flirting with you. Breathe.“So how are you liking Greece?”
“We just got here.” I laughed. And I sure am already liking a lot of what I see here.
“I hope you like it.”
“I think I will.” I smiled privately.
Hermes turned around from the group ahead and called out to us. “Oi! Tha prépei na stamatí̱soume na krémetai píso̱ kai na flertárei pára polý í̱ tha chásete ti̱ diaskédasi̱ !” He smirked at Kon, who blushed.
“What’s the devil’s spawn saying?” I asked him
“Huh?”
“Hermes. What’s he saying?”
“He says we need to stop hanging behind and flirting too much or we’ll miss the fun.”
“Hey, Hermes!” I called out to him. He turned back. “We’re not flirting! And I’m already having fun!”
“But what is the fun if there is no flirting?” He winked at me. I rolled my eyes but couldn’t help grinning back. What an idiot. The picture is of a Greek guy. Idk who, but isn't he gorgeous? *_* Thank me in the comments XD
