Also, I may not upload for some time now, cuz Imma go out for the hols B)
What are you guys planning for the hols? :3We’d done some pretty crazy things already, but we hadn’t realized when all of it bore a huge gaping hole into our pockets. And now, as one by one, all of us turned those pockets inside out and rummaged through our wallets and pouches and backpacks, we realized we were more broke than Will Smith in ‘In Pursuit Of Happiness’.
We were in some deep shit.
“No worries, we can use my credit card.” I saved us all as I rummaged through my pouch and produced the card we’d packed for emergency. Everyone relaxed as Crista went back to the counter armed with the credit card.
She came back with some pretty horrifying news.
“Your credit card’s expired, Lee!” She said, obviously flustered with having to deal with so many things one after the other.
“What?” I squeaked, getting up to go to the main counter where a blonde haired boy with a lip piercing informed us that my credit card had, indeed, expired. When we’d booked the room online, Crista had chosen the ‘pay on the spot’ option without thinking twice, because she was not very confident about online transactions. My card had expired just a week before, leaving us stranded, and no amount of Fran’s experienced flirting could convince the boy at the counter to ‘lend’ us a room till we got our hands on some money. And by this time, all the banks would have closed for the day.
Now we were really in some deep, deep shit.
Maybe Hermes’ new relationship with Fran had made him float away, up into the clouds, due to bubbliness. Maybe he was just taking on Fran’s tendency of having an extremely short attention span. Maybe he didn’t understand the depth of shit we were in right now. Or maybe he just fancied being a hobo on the streets of Amsterdam, but his first suggestion was this-
“Let’s videotape this!”Yes, that was his brilliant idea, exclamation and all.
Just as I was about to spontaneously combust, Fran piped up saying that it was actually a good idea! We’d decided to video chronicle every interesting part of our journey, and this was totally interesting, so we should shoot it immediately!
As if no one in the world has ever been broke when they were our age.
Muttering under my breath, I got out my camcorder, and set it up as Fran and the others settled themselves on the stairs outside the hostel.
“Hey all you awesome people watching this!” Fran grinned and waved at the camera. “We’ve returned again to entertain you with the backpack chronicles!”
“Hopefully this will be entertaining!” Crista joked.
“Right now on tour, we’re facing a tiny problem.” Kon cut to the chase. “We’re out of cash!” He grinned as if being out of cash was the coolest thing ever. The others joined in, laughing like Kon was Russel Peters cracking a joke.
“So we’re brainstorming right now, thinking what we could possibly do to raise the money we need to stay at the Youth Hostel here, or else we’re going to be lonely hobos.” Fran pouted.
“If you guys have an opinion, you could drop one too!” Marie piped up.
“I think we should just hit the streets, begging for employment.” Hector, ever the practical one, suggested.
Crista rolled her eyes. “Yeah, sure. Why don’t you volunteer to work at the Youth Hostel itself? Free service in exchange of a room.” She snickered.
But they were on a roll, as they exchanged ideas back and forth, with me recording everything. Finally, around the third minute of the video, Hermes came up with a path breaking idea.
“Let’s open a kissing booth near the Market area!” He grinned, lighting up like a gas stove.
“That could actually work…” Fran said carefully. She didn’t need to mention why on screen- everyone could understand that anybody would happily pay to kiss any of us, especially the boys, Marie, and Fran. With her lip piercing, she’d make a somewhat interesting kiss.
