29. So unforgivable
Megan POV
I woke up on my bed. I felt immense pain, well no surprises there.
I heard a snicker in front of me.
"Awake finally!" exclaimed Damon. "Well I brought you some breakfast but I think I might just leave it over here." he placed it down on the table and left before I could say a word.
At his mention of food my stomach growled. I stared at the plate with a couple of slices of toast and a glass of juice. It was less than I had been getting lately.
I didn't dare try to get back up. I didn't know where I had gotten the strength to limp/hop through the pain yesterday, it did happen yesterday didn't it, it felt like a lifetime ago. Going to Hogwarts and making friends, I could only just remember the feeling of belonging I had felt, that was the only thing that kept me going that stopped me trying to kill myself.
Then I had a brilliant idea. I grabbed my wand which was luckily lying on the bed beside me. I gave it a flick in the direction of the food and gasped 'Wingardium Leviosa.'
My throat was sore and dry so I barely managed to say the spell and even then it only came out as a croak. I watched, relieved when the plate began to hover. I used my wand to levitate it into my lap.
I gobbled the toast and sculled the juice and then quickly levitated the plate and empty glass back to the table.
Soon Damon came back he took away the dishes and then came back. I had to continue my 'lessons'.
I was sitting up painfully although Damon had been kind enough to give me a potion that took the edge off the pain.
"Today we will progress onto some harder magic. We will be practicing on these," Damon put a cage full of mice down on the bed. "First the Imperius Curse. You can use it to control people."
I felt sick, why would I need to be controlling people.
"Let me demonstrate," he pulled a mouse out of the cage and placed it in front of me. "Imperio"
The mouse which was about to run away suddenly froze and then sat still with an oddly blank look in it's tiny eyes. It seemed to be waiting for some sort of command.
Laughing Damon sent it zooming around the room with a flick of his wand. It did anything he wanted it too.
"Your turn," he declared after a few minutes.
"I can't," I stammered.
"Okay, how about we do something easier. I will cast it on you and you have to try to resist it."
"What-"
"Imperio"
My mind went blank. It felt as If I had been locked away deep inside myself unable to escape. My body did flips as he flicked his wand but my mind was busy screaming trying to stop. The only good thing was that I couldn't feel any pain anymore, whether this was because of the curse or the potion I had earlier I had no idea.
Suddenly my rational mind seemed to break through the barrier and I stopped mid-flip. I went tumbling to the ground, landing on my face with a thump.
The potion was definitely working. There was no pain.
"Well done, are you ready to try it on the mouse?"
My head was spinning from tumbling head over heals over and over again.
I nodded. Sorry mouse but I don't think I can take anymore of that.
I some how got back on to my bed so I sat there staring at the mouse. Maybe I could pretend to cast it on the mouse but cast it on Damon instead. Probably wouldn't work. I think I might need some practice before I try using it so I can escape.
