19. Fun in The Snow

Megan POV

I woke up with my head pounding and my vision blurry. I rubbed my eyes to try and clear up my vision so I could at least figure out where I was.

After a moments I could see properly and realized I was in the hospital wing. All of the beds in here were occupied and there were heaps of people lying on stretchers placed carefully on the floor.

"What happened to those guys?" I asked Madame Pomfrey who had been rushing past me.

"Megan!" she gasped startled. "What happened to them? Why you did my dear, don't you remember?"

"The last thing I remember was the snow and my memory about Mrs Johnston."

"Who's Mrs Johnston?" said Harry appearing at my side along with Hermione, Ron and the twins, all of whom looked concerned.

"She owned the orphanage I used to live in. She was a downright bitch. Stupid slave driver. So what did I do to these peeps?"

"Well," began Harry.

"Oh god, here we go." I groaned.

"This morning I came downstairs to get my breakfast and saw you standing in the open doorway-"

"Can you make it quick?"

"Okay. You were in a weird trance, had a fit and began screaming, made really strong winds and blasted everyone into walls and anything loose around the room went flying as well. A suit of armor flew around and bashed you in the back of the head."

"Oh, okay. That makes sense."

"How does that make sense?"

"That's basically what my memory is about."

"So that's who you were screaming at then."

"Oh, shush. So how many people did I hurt?"

"67 if you count all the major injuries but if you count all the smaller ones as well then 98."

"98? Wow, I didn't kill anyone did I?"

"Nobody has died yet." said Madame Pomfrey with a sigh.

"Good. Well I'm back to normal now so can I leave?"

"No, first you need to answer some questions."

"Fire away."

"Why did you go into a 'trance'?"

"Umm, well, when I was little I wasn't allowed to play in the snow and I had to clean the orphanage while all the other kids were out in the snow. Mrs Johnston used to hit me if I didn't do what she told me to and sometimes I would just snap and yeah. So I have a lot of bad memories linked to snow so when I saw the snow this morning I thought I would finally get to play in the snow but when I opened the doors I just began remembering."

"Alrighty then. Can you see clearly?"

"Yup."

"Can you feel any pain?"

"Nope." I lied.

"I suppose you can go then but maybe you should stay away from the snow for a while."

"Yeah, whatever." I said already out the door.

"Do you want to talk about what happened?" asked Harry the concerned little brother he is. Wait a sec who's older? Damn I wish I knew.

"Nope." I said remembering he asked a question.

"Well then let's go have some fun in the snow." said George with an evil grin.

"But you heard Madame Pomfrey, Megan isn't supposed to go near the snow." cried Hermione, she was such a goody two shoes.

"Yeah we heard but we choose to ignore." said Fred. "Let's go then."

We walked on in silence, soon enough we had reached the doors (which had already been fixed along with the stairs). I paused for a second before stepping out on to the snow.

"Ok guys, snowman contest," grinned Ron.

Soon we were all running around rolling balls of snow and stacking them up. I stuck a couple of sticks in mine for arms and used some smooth little pebbles I found to make a mouth, eyes and buttons down his front. I shook my head sadly I couldn't finish him because I didn't have a carrot, top hat or a scarf.

"Here," said Fred coming over to me. He flicked his wand and an emerald green scarf appeared along with a top hat that had a matching emerald green ribbon around it.

Smiling I took them and carefully wrapped the scarf around my snowman and placed the hat atop his head.

"And for the finishing touch," Fred smiled, waved his wand and a carrot grew in the middle of my snowman's face.

"Thanks," I said and grabbed Fred in a hug. He stood shocked before he hugged me back.

"You're very welcome."

Once I released him I stepped back to admire my snowman and look at everyone else's. Six snowmen stood in a row all finished.

Next we walked over to the lake which had frozen over so Fred and George transfigured our shoes into ice skates.

I took an uncertain step on to the ice and slowly put my other foot on as well. I watched the three Weasley boys zooming around happily. Finally I began to slide my feet attempting to imitate the way they did but failed miserably, I ended up windmilling my arms to keep balance before finally slipping into George knocking him flat on his back.

"Sorry," I gasped.

He just laughed and stood up again and reached out and took my hand so he could help me along.

After a while I was skating like a pro! Ok no I wasn't. I face planted the first time George let go of my hand.

Laughing happily we got off the ice and turned our skates back into shoes.

"Snowball fight!" yelled Fred. Who had already made up a snowball.

He threw it at me and it exploded all over my face. That meant war!

I began rapidly making snowballs and soon Fred and I were chasing each other around ditching snowballs as we ran. I was lucky enough to get one in the mouth.

We saw Quirrel walking past.

"Watch this," Fred and George grinned and started charming snowballs as I made them up.

Soon a flock of snowballs were repeatedly bouncing off the back of Quirrel's turban.

We all laughed and ran off so as not to be caught. I collapsed into the snow and began making an army of snow angels. Soon all the others joined me.

"I don't know about you guys but I'm freezing so wanna go inside?"

The others all agreed so we made our way back inside.

We sat around the fire in the Gryffindor common room laughing and talking. Nobody else seemed to be around so we didn't even have to try and be quiet.

"So Megan, what did you think of your first time in the snow?" asked Fred his eyes glinting in the fire light.

"I loved it! Especially with you guys!"
