17. A Conspiracy at Quidditch

Megan POV

The weather had suddenly become very cold when it became November. The ground would be covered in frost every morning and everywhere you looked outside it was cold, grey and gloomy.

Despite the weather I was excited, Quidditch season had begun. On this Saturday it would be the first game of the season, Gryffindor versus Slytherin.

At first not many people had known the Harry and I were on the Gryffindor team. Wood had decided to keep us as secret weapons, unfortunately for him somehow people had found out about us playing and were making lots of annoying and repetitive jokes about us.

It was nerve-racking having people constantly telling us how great we would be. I kept hiding out in the library with Hermione to get away from everyone.

By the time Saturday had come I thought I would attack some of the Slytherins if they didn't stop saying they would run around under me holding mattresses.

On Saturday morning I entered the common room and spotted Harry and Ron talking with their heads together. I walked over to them and sat down to find out what they were talking about.

"What's up?" I asked cheerfully, even though I was extremely worried about the Quidditch match on later today, I wasn't even paying attention to them.

"Sshhh!" hissed Ron, glancing around to see if anyone else was listening.

"Geez, what's wrong with you two?"

"Megan, we think Snape is trying to steal whatever that three headed dog is guarding."

"And why would you think that? Really Harry, I'd have thought you'd be more concerned about our first match today not some silly theory you've come up with. You're really paranoid, you know that?"

"I'm not making this up! You'd agree with me if you'd heard what he said. He was talking to Filch when I went to get my book back-"

"What happened to your book?"

"Oh, when you were having a food fight in the kitchens we were outside and I was reading a book I borrowed from the library, 'Quidditch through the Ages'. Anyway, Snape said you can't take library books outside so he confiscated it. So as I was saying before, he was talking to Filch and said-"

"Sorry Harry but I really don't give a damn. I'm hungry so I'm gonna go get me some breakfast, see you guys later."

I ran from the room before Harry could share more of his conspiracy theory, I really wasn't in the mood to listen to his rubbish.

I entered the Great Hall and sat at the Gryffindor table. I was starving because of all the nerves so soon my plate was piled high with food, yup that's how I deal with nerves I eat, get over it.

Straight away I noticed three unwanted people beside me.

"Enjoying a last meal there, Potter," sneered Malfoy. "That's probably the last solid meal you'll be able to eat for a week. Me and my friends here," he gestured to Crabbe and Goyel, who as usual stood silently behind him. "were having an argument over who would fall off their broom first, you or your dimwitted brother."

"If think my brother is dimwitted you should look at your 'friends' here." I snorted.

"I think-" he glared at me as I cut him off.

"You think! It's a bloody miracle."

"I think that you'll fall off first, you are a girl after all."

"I'm surprised you can tell the difference between boy and girl, I can hardly tell with you, and at the moment I'm leaning towards girl."

"-then we tried to figure out whether you would fall off or get hit by a Bludger. Crabbe reckons that you'll fall off if you see a Bludger coming at you because you'll get so scared. What do you think?"
