Introduction
Scarlett’s P.O.V.
My name is Scarlett, and honestly, I was like every other girl. I had a normal life; I lived with both of my parents. I had friends, good grades, a stable future. Everything about my life was normal, up until the summer before junior year.
That’s when I met James, he turned my life around.
I don’t want to say he was the first boy I fell in love with, but he was. James welcomed me into his life with open arms, he made me feel wanted, loved. He was the first person to ever show any sort of romantic interest in me. He was kind, handsome, and intelligent. He was what every girl wanted to go on a date with, what every parent wanted their daughter to bring home. He was my world for those 2 magical months; he was my breath of fresh air in a stifling town.
Then I caught him naked in my best friend’s closet the last week of that very summer.
I was heartbroken, not only could I not believe that my best friend, Charlotte, could betray me in such a way. But I also let myself trust James; I gave him my heart only to have it be manipulated by empty whispers of love.
I knew no one could ever really be trusted, not girls, not guys. So I became some sort of heartless pit, void of any real emotion towards anyone but my family. Blood runs thicker than water; I learned that the hard way. I was sick of the lies that people constantly fed me, so I decided to shove it down the throats of others.
It wasn’t really my decision per say, I don’t really remember how it all really started. I think it really started when this senior girl walked up to me before homeroom back in October.
“So you hate guys right?” She (her name will go unmentioned) asked.
“I wouldn’t say hate…” I started.
“You aren’t interested in a relationship, like at all?” She rephrased.
“Yeah,” I answered simply.
“I have a proposition for you,”
“What is it?”
“I want you to go on a date with Brad.” She said simply.
“Wait, as in your boyfriend Brad?” I asked her, questioning this whole conversation. Why in the hell did this popular senior want me dating her boyfriend?
“Yes,” she rolled her eyes. “I need to see if he’s cheating.”
“So what? I ask him on a date and see if he fondles me by the end of it?” I shoved her out of my way but she grabbed my wrist before I could walk away.
“No,” she shook her head. “I need you to try and seduce him, and if he falls for it… Well I need you to just see if he is capable of doing it.”
“I can’t do that,” I crossed my arms.
“Please,” she pleaded. “I’ll pay you.”
“How much?” She started to gain my interest.
“A hundred bucks.” She wagered.
“Okay,” I said confidently.
So I did do it, and Brad turned out to be a cheater. But before I told his girlfriend, I manipulated him. I made him believe we could be together if he broke up with her, and he told me he would break up with her the next week. I told her before he had the chance, and she publically humiliated him in the middle of the cafeteria, she never mentioned my name though. I started to drift away from Brad after their break up, I could tell he was frustrated, but I needed a subtle way to leave him without him thinking I was involved with his (ex)girlfriend in anyway. So I broke his heart, and got my $100. Literally the easiest money I ever made.
Then everyone heard about what I did, and I became Scarlett the Heartbreaker, or Harlett for short. Catchy huh?
I was hired by other girls to either get revenge on the boys who broke their hearts, crushes that had abandoned them mid-fling, and my personal favorite, cheaters.
It wasn’t until one fateful day; I was given my first challenge case.
