"This is some Romeo and Juliet shit"
Betty blacked out in the car, she couldn't take the pain of whatever was stuck in her foot. Her head felt strange, and her body was comfortable. Betty opened her eyes to a dark room. She was not on the floor, but on someone's bed. The covers were clean and it didn't smell like the sewage system. Rubbing her eyes, Betty looked around. It looked like a trailer, a very small one. There was a window on the side and she tried to slide the panel to open it. The window squeaked and she heard someone's footsteps. Bouncing back onto the bed, she pretended to still be asleep.
Squinting her eyes, she watched as Jughead walked in. He looked around and then sat on the bed next to her. Betty still pretended to be asleep. She heard as he circled around the room and closed the window. He then laughed and sat back down. There was no reason to pretend she was asleep anymore, but pretending was all Betty had to stay safe.
"You're not in danger," Jughead whispered into her ear and lied down beside her.
She didn't answer, in fact she was even afraid to breath or make a sound.
Jughead was hurt, "so I meant nothing to you, as if you don't even know me," he said and put his hand on her side.
Letting out a sigh, Betty turned around to face him, hiding half of her face under the covers. She was still afraid, if he was one of the South-side Serpents, there was no telling what he could do. Slowly, she looked up at him.
"What are you going to do to me?" She asked.
Jughead smirked, "I could make a horribly inappropriate joke, but you don't need that right now."
"If it would even be a joke," Betty rolled her eyes.
He furrowed his eyebrows, "Betty, I would never hurt you-"
"What about those other people you hurt? You're a Serpent! They cause nothing but pain to our little town!" Betty screamed and stood up, aiming to run for the door. The pain in her leg started again she fell down on the floor before she could even reach the door, "ouch!"
Jughead carefully picked her up and put her back on the bed, beside him. Tears started to stream down her eyes as she realized that she was trapped there, "let me go!"
"Betty you're hurt, there's no way I'm going to let you walk out of here if you can't even walk! Let me help you," he looked at her sympathetically.
She closed her eyes, "why should I believe you?"
"Because you know me, because despite being a Serpent, I am just plain old Jughead," he cupped her face.
She wanted to believe him, but he was everything her parents warned her against, "what if they want to kill me after all I've seen?"
Looking out at the door, Jughead sighed, and then looked back at Betty, "Serpents don't kill without a reason, all this fears and rumors about them they're not true. Besides, they'd never kill you, they know who you are."
"What difference does that make! So I'm the daughter of Hal Cooper, maybe they want to avenge him, the best plan would be to kill me-"
"It's not because you're Hal's daughter, Betty," Jughead cut her off, "they'd never hurt someone who meant so much to the leaders son."
Then Betty remembered, FP Jones was one of the most ruthless gang leaders in the area, and from what she remembered that happened that night, Jughead was his son. Betty didn't understand how she didn't put two and two together before, same last name, same dislike by the public. Jughead was like a younger version of the man her father used to tell nightmare stories about. Looking around one more time, Betty realized she was in the belly of the beast, wherever it was. "Well this is some Romeo And Juliet shit".
"Jughead, I need to leave!" She pleaded.
"And you will," his hands fell down to his sides, "but when you get better. I promise nothing bad will happen to you."
A shiver came down her shoulders as he pulled the covers away and threw a blanket on her. Jughead stood up and looked at the exit, "I'll sleep on the couch outside, you can have my bed."
"Wait!" Betty grabbed his hand before he got the chance to walk out the door, "can't you stay here? To be honest, I'd feel much safer with you around...since I don't know the Serpents that well." She hesitated, but Betty knew that Jughead was better than having nothing.
He smirked, "even when you're scared of me you still don't want to get rid of me."
Betty rolled her eyes and he laughed, "I'm kidding. I'll be right over." Jughead walked out. To her surprise she didn't hear any locks or clicks, she could run out the door any minute, but there was no telling what she'd encounter behind that door.
For the fifth time, Betty looked over the room. It wasn't any different from a typical boy's room, except Jughead had less belongings in his room. On the only drawer he owned, stood framed pictures of a family. Betty crawled closer to the dresser, without leaving the bed, and picked up the picture. She recognized Jughead with his signature hat look, beside him stood a little girl holding a woman's hand, and behind them was a man, FP Jones, or so Betty assumed.
The door opened again and Betty dropped the picture. Panicked she started looking around and reached for the picture. It fell on the floor in front of her and before she could reach it, Jughead grabbed it.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to go through your stuff!" She said, as if she was scared of his reaction.
Jughead looked at her with wide eyes, "Leave my castle right now! How dare you touch my rose! I'm cursed, I shouldn't have let you into my life!" A second after his dramatic burst Jughead smiled and took her by the hand, "Betty it was in plain sight, I don't blame you for your curiosity."
"So, you have a beast within?" She raised and eyebrow and lied back down on the bed.
Jughead shook his head, "of course, we all have our demons." He reached for a pillow across from her and put it on the floor.
Betty leaned to her side to have a better view of what he was doing, "what are you doing?"
"I'm assuming you don't want me on the same bed as you, we're not married yet!" He said sarcastically, teasing her and trying to copy a perfect boy next door mannerism.
She sighed, "I doubt you care about that Jughead Jones, and right now, neither do I."
"What are you saying?" A smile slowly crept into his features.
"I'm saying get your ass over here next to me!" Betty couldn't believe herself. Her father would be shocked, her mother would be disappointed, but like she said, she didn't care.
Jughead leaped onto the bed next to her, pulled the covers over himself, and looked at her, "I just might be changing you completely Betty. Welcome to the wild side."
"Slow down cowboy, you're not tempting me yet," she laughed and rolled to the other side.
With one swift motion Jughead took off his shirt and threw it on the dresser. He turned off the lights and rolled to her side, watching her back intently. From the corner of his ear he could hear her small and soft whisper, "you did that on purpose."
