Over and Over (On Hold)

Chapter 6

I woke up at 7 o'clock to the sound of my radio blaring Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner by Fall Out Boy. My shift started in about 2 hours so I just laid in bed contemplating what to do about Mikey and Ashton. I really needed to think this all through before I saw Ash again. Thinking about last night made me smile but made me feel guilty. Why did I have to answer his damn phone call? I looked at my clock again and it read.

Well I better get ready for work now. I took my phone from my bedside table and shuffled my songs on my 'Getting Ready' playlist. The first song was Caraphernelia by Pierce The Veil. I jumped up and set my phone on the dock to make the sound louder. I walked to my closet and grabbed my ripped skinny jeans and All Time Low T-shirt. My all black converse were already by my bed so I laid the outfit out on my bed.

I ran to the shower to quickly wash my hair and shave a little. It was one of the quickest showers of my life due to the fact Arielle was coming to pick me up. She was my best friend and worked the same shift as me at The Shoppe. It was this old mechanic shop that our boss turned into a cute little coffee place that we adored before working there. Ari and I had been best friends since the 1st grade and she was like my little sister. I threw my clothes on and brushed out my naturally straight-as-a-board hair. I tied it into my usual ponytail and applied my usual mascara. I put my shoes on an walked downstairs.

Mom was making herself a bowl Cheerios and I made a bowl of Lucky Charms. I mean they are magically delicious. Mom and I had a bit of small talk before I heard Arielle walk in. Yes, she does just come into my house, I mean she has a key. I heard her walk into the kitchen and take her seat next to me.

"Hey kiddo. Ready for work?" She frowned at my use of the name kiddo but nodded her head. "Cool just let me finish my cereal and we can go."

"You realize that I'm only, like, 4 months younger than you so I'm not exactly a 'kiddo'." I laughed but went into my explanation about how that doesn't mean anything and she'd always be the little one.

We jumped into her car and listened to Sleeping with Sirens on the way. We both did our own impression of screaming wen those parts came and laughed at each other due to how crap we each were at it. I also told her about what happened the night before, about the dinner and Ashton coming over later. She looked at me like she was a little disappointed that I let him stay for as long as he did.

"You answered his call? You've been ignoring the boy for 3 months and now you answer his call when you finally get into a working relationship. I mean seriously Harley." I looked at my hands for a moment and shut my eyes. Whenever she was disappointed in me I got this feeling. The feeling that I was going to breakdown and cry. I felt on tear escape my eye but quickly wiped it away. Arielle noticed this though. She took a deep sigh and grabbed my hand. "Harley, I'm sorry. I know you didn't want this to happen but it did, and you have to fix it. Soon."

She emphasized the word 'soon' and squeezed my hand. I gave her a small smile and looked back at the road ahead, even though I wasn't the one driving I felt the need to look at the road. It was just something to take my mind off everything. I glanced at my phone and saw two new messages from Mikey and Ash. Both were just a simple 'Hey' but I only replied to Mikey's. I know Ashton didn't want me to ignore him but I needed to think about what was going on. I instantly got a reply.

'Do u want me to pick u up from work so we can go to the park? :)'

This message would of usually made me smile but today it made me groan and feel uncomfortable. I mean I am with Mikey but a small, okay maybe big, part of me wanted to run back to Ash. I tried to shut that part off though.

'Sure, I get off at around 3 today, okay?'

The back of my mind wanted him to be busy but I ignored the feeling. I closed my eyes and waited for his reply. Ari was speaking to me but I zoned out a bit only to hear tidbits of what she was saying something about Luke and her. Apparently they were back on. Yes, Ari and Luke had an on-again-off-again relationship. No, I didn't fully understand or approve, but I mean, whatever makes them happy. We pulled into the parking lot and rushed out of the car. I threw my apron on around my waist and walked behind the counter and Arielle turned the closed sign open. After about 10 minutes people started pouring in. To say this wasn't a popular coffee joint would be a lie but we could handle it. Order after order came in and we quenched everyone's thirst.

Soon Jesse and McKenna came in for there shift and Mikey was here to pick me up. Ari gave me a hug before she left and I promised we would hang out soon. I walked over to Mikey's beat-up pick-up truck and saw him smiling widely at me. I hopped inside and he leaned into give me a kiss on the cheek. I blushed at the sweet gesture and sat in the middle of the front seat to lean into Mikey, his arm laid on the back of the seat. The ride to the park was short and silent, but not awkward, I just enjoyed leaning into his side. I almost forgot about Ashton. Almost.
