"All right, you three," Mikha said with a smile. "You ready to go back home and say hi to everyone?"
Abdullah, Lili, and Jabril nodded sadly.
"Yeah, I guess..." Abdullah sighed.
Mikha kneeled down to his height. "Hey, are you okay? Are you feeling ill?" She checked his temperature.
"I feel fine," the boy said. "I'm just a little itty bitty sad."
Mikha kissed his nose and wiped his bangs out of his face. "Why?"
Lili stepped in. "Cause we don't know when you're gonna visit again."
Mikha looked at them with a shocked face.
Rashil rolled her eyes and clapped her hands. "All right, you three, enough! Stop pulling on your big sister's heartstrings!"
The three children whined.
"But we were so close!" Jabril said. "Big sister Mi makes the best food, and the beds are soft, too!"
Rashil flicked his forehead. "Don't manipulate your big sister's emotions, you little stinker."
Jabril rubbed the spot on his forehead. "Ouchy..."
Mikha's mouth hung open wide. "Maniplulate my emotions?"
Rashil patted her older sister's back. "You're too soft, sis. You almost let them stay."
Mikha quirked an eyebrow. "Would that have been so bad?"
"They just wanna pilfer your amazing cooking, the little sneaks." Rashil kneeled down and gripped Abdullah's shoulders. "Abby, you do realize why you have to go back, right?"
Abdullah nodded. "Because when you guys aren't there, we're in charge."
"That's right," Mikha said. "The other kids, they need someone to take care of them when we're not there. Abby, you've been working recently, haven't you?"
The boy's eyes widened. "How did you know?"
"Jebal. You got him shoes."
Rashil chuckled. "That kid always had the most sensitive feet."
Lili laughed. "I know, right? Abby and I have been doing odd jobs all around the kingdom, then each month, we pool our money and buy food and a present for one of the kids. Last month, it was Jebal, cause it was his birthday month."
Jabril shifted nervously. "I can't do much since I'm so small, but I've been trying."
Mikha and Rashil hugged the three kids.
"You guys are so smart and kind," Mikha said.
"Keep up the good work," Rashil added.
The kids laughed and hugged back. "Okay!"
They stood up. Mikha picked up Abdullah and Rashil picked up Jabril.
"What about me?" Lili asked dejectedly.
Rashil grinned at her. "You get the special treatment."
"Special?" the girl asked. Suddenly, she was scooped up from behind. She smiled when she saw that it was Xander that had picked her up.
"Hello, Miss Lili," he said with a charming smile.
Lili started drooling.
"Miss Lili? Are you all right?" Xander looked worriedly at Rashil. "Oh, mistress! What have I done!?"
