"I beg you, Alibaba," Sabhmad said quietly. "If we don't hurry, the signing ceremony will be upon us."
"Signing ceremony?" Rashil and Mikha said in unison. They discreetly high-fived at their in-sync-ness.
Sabhmad shut his eyes tightly. "Five days from now, there'll be the royal wedding of King Abhmad and a Princess of the Kou Empire."
Rashil snorted. "As if he's worthy of a princess."
Mikha looked thoughtful. "Wouldn't it be ironic if it was that princess from tonight?"
"I take it back," Rashil said. "If it's her, they're made for each other. Both extremely bratty."
Sabhmad continued, "At that time, they'll also be holding a ceremony handing the people of Balbadd over as collateral."
Alibaba's eyes widened. "In five days?"
Sabhmad walked forward and desperately placed his hands on Alibaba's shoulders. "Please, Alibaba! Stop our brother from doing this." His eyes brimmed with tears. "There's just... Nothing that I can do anymore."
A worried murmuring broke out amongst the crowd.
"What's going to happen to us?"
"What's going to be done?"
"Are we safe?"
Abdullah, Lili, and Jabril came running around the corner.
"Big sisters!" Lili yelled.
Mikha gasped and held out her arms for the small girl to jump into. "Lili! How are you, are you hurt?"
Lil hugged her tightly. Jabril and Abdullah tackled Rashil. "We're fine. We just have a few cuts and bruises."
Mikha and Lili rubbed their noses together. Something they called, 'deer kisses'. "Well, you three can stay with us tonight, and I'll treat your wounds."
The girl nodded. "'Kay."
Sinbad stepped forward, past the reunion toward the second Prince of Balbbad. Sinbad's air of calm command overwhelmed Alibaba and pushed him aside. "I understand the situation," Sinbad said. "Would you mind leaving this to me?"
Rashil sat up from her miniature dog-pile. "Gosh, Sinbad! Let Uni do something for himself! If you keep-"
"Shh," Mikha quieted her. "Perhaps his plan would be useful..." She lowered her tone. "It doesn't look like Alibaba is prepared for this."
Sinbad nodded to the magician. "Thank you, Mikha." He returned his attention to Sabhmad. "Using our allies in Sindria, I can attempt to mount a big protest. Everyone will rally against Balbadd's government and end this slavery plan before it starts."
Alibaba let out a relieved sigh. It was better for Sinbad to take care of this. Alibaba was useless on his own.
Sabhmad sighed. "Yes... But I..." He looked at Alibaba pleadingly, but Alibaba just looked away.
Mikha hugged Lili a little tighter. "Those two... I feel bad for them."
Rashil stood up, Jabril and Abdullah held in either arm. "Their family's messed up, that's for sure." She head-butted the two boys in her arms.
"Ouchie!" they yelped.
"Don't repeat what I just said." Rashil let them down.
Bal-Kak interjected, "My Lord, we must be going now."
Sabhmad moved away from Alibaba. "Uh... Right."
Bal-Kak gave Alibaba a meaningful look. "Master, don't let us down."
