You Again (Red Queen Fanfiction)

An Unlikey Duo

    I was about to speak when something else disturbed me. The sound of chandeliers crashing on marble floor.

Mare's POV
I was horrified at the scene as I pulled Maven through the crowd. It was completely dark, tons of screaming and so much blood. I tried to remember what the Scarlet Guard was planning to do but I couldn't think of anything. What am I suppose to do? Cal still thinks his brother is a psychopath and Kilorn doesn't even know where I am. Then I remembered I was suppose to shut down the power after Cal's speech. That was when the Scarlet Guard was suppose to attack. But Cal's speech wasn't even over and judging by the scene around me, I'm pretty sure they already attacked. Did Kilorn tell Farley I ran off and therefore they attacked early. Plus they were suppose to just make some confusion and run off, not kill anyone. But I was surrounded by tons of dead bodies. Oh, what have I done.
     As we were going through the sea of people, I was suddenly pulled back by Maven. "Mare, do you even know where you're going!" he said.
     I was out of breath and so confused, I didn't even want to respond. I just shook my head no.
    "Ok," he said as he started pulling me in the opposite direction. "We have to stop this attack. Do you know anything about what they're planning to do?"
    "No," I say embarrassed. "They don't exactly keep me informed,"
     I then see a flash of black hair being pulled into a room. "Cal!" I yell running towards where I saw him. I don't think he heard me, as he doesn't turn his head. "What is going on?" I think as Maven comes running after me. "Are you sure that was Cal? Why would he be going into the throne room when they're so much fighting going on out here?" Maven was right that was so not like Cal.
    "Ok I need to help stop this attack. You go to the throne room and see what's going on," Maven says and without waiting for a response disappears into the crowd.
   "Be safe!" I yell to the him even though he can't hear me and I go toward the throne room.  I open the door to the extravagant room and it's completing dark expect a ray of light coming from a hallway deep in the back of the room. "Cal! Cal!" I yell as I go toward the light. As I get closer I suddenly start getting nervous. Why isn't Cal responding. Is he hurt?
     "Cal!" I yell again, panic raising in my voice. I heard a mumbled back, "Mare," I go as fast as I can towards where I heard his voice. I go into the hidden hallway where the light was coming from. There was a door at the end and I pushed it open. I also screamed. There was Cal, two chains attacked to the wall that were bound around his wrist. His clothes were torn in places and he was covered in sliver blood.
    "Mare, you need to get out of here. It's not safe," Cal says.
    "No! I'm not leaving without you, what's going on," I say as I run toward him and start undoing the chains.
   "It's Elara and Farley. They're working together to take over Norta."
"Cal, have you lost your mind? Elara doesn't even know Farley nevermind likes her. Elara hates the Scarlet Guard. Why would she be working with them?" I say. I got both of the chains done when I heard a voice behind me.
"Oh little lighting girl I'm surprised you think you got me figured out. Well I was suppose to be your mother-in-law so I guess that makes sense," I look back to see the icy blue eyes of Queen Elara. I back up as fast as I can and end up tripping over Cal's feet and falling down beside him. I try to get up but I can't. I realize Elara had gotten me under her control and I groan. She's also gotten control of Cal leaving him on the floor with me.
   "Has Barrow gotten here yet," says another voice I recognize. Farley walks in the room looking almost bored.
   "Farley," I start knowing it's stupid for me to be speaking but I have to know. "What is going on. Since when are you on her side? Why are you doing this?"
    "Well the Scarlet Guard is just a ploy to get Norta distracted. You see my actual goal was to get Lakeland control over Norta. I work for the Lakelander royal family," Farley said.
  "And I was perfect help for that since well I want the throne to myself and once I got rid of Norta, I would get rid of the Norton royal family. Then I would marry into the Lakerlanders royal family, as their king said I  could if we destroyed Norta. And the Lakelander king is so weak he would be easy to kill of and here we are now," Elara continued. They both said this as if it was so simple.
   "Oh Mare trust me when I say I didn't want to hurt you, but you were just the perfect pawn. You love those those Calore boys so much and the feelings mutual. I just know you would do anything for them as they would for you. So when it came to the final step of the plan I knew who I had to find. Well maybe you should be thanking me, I got you your job here," Farley said with a smile as she circled around me.
  "But I don't understand, you're a Red, why would you want to help the silvers," I said.
    "She has her reasons," Elara said and Farley paled.
    "Well we have to get a move on," Elara says "they're both here and we better make this quick," Elara looks back at us and smirks. "At least the two lovers get to die together,"
   "Maybe we should keep them alive. They could be good pawns," says Farley.
    Elara rolls her eyes and says, "This is why I never let a Red help me,"
   She takes control of Farley body and does something that makes me scream. Cal grabs me by the arm and pulls me back toward him. After Elara is done, Farley lies in a pool of her own blood. Another life taken by the whisper queen.
   "Now your turn," she says turning toward us. Elara starts to take control of me when someone crashes through the door.
     I try to open my eyes to see what's going on, but I can't. I smell smoke and hear metal screech. I hear voice shouting and try to get up but I can't. Strong arms pick me up and everything goes white.
