I then walked out the door. The door slammed shut and I started back at it. I felt like I was losing a piece of family. A new thought now took over my head. "I want to stay,"
Mare's POV
I went to stand on the balcony in my room trying to figure out this new feeling. "Why would I want to stay," I thought "These people are monsters and they're turning me into one." With that I shut out the feeling and of course right on schedule, walked in Elara.
She explained to me the plan, patted me on the shoulder, and said "Goodbye little lighting girl, I certainly won't miss you."
She then walked out, leaving me alone in my room as I went over the plan in my head. Lucas would escort me to dinner as usual and in the middle of dinner there will be a power outage which will the perfect time to escape. A gunshot will then go off making everything think it's a rebel attack. I'll go to the storage room which has red clothes for me and stuff that will remove the white powder and makeup. I will then go on the truck which will take me back to the Stilts. Elara will say that some guard thought I was a rebel attacking and that they killed me. As I go over in my head I know that there's a lot that can go wrong but I don't think about that and focus on getting home.
Dinner came around too fast and I was now walking with Lucas to the grand room. I guess Lucas could tell I was nervous because he said "Is everything alright Lady Titanios?"
I responded with a believing everything is alright. Before we walked into the grand room I said "Thank you Lucas for everything you have done, truly."
"Of course my lady it's a pleasure." he responded and I entered the room.
I was again the last one in but I didn't think much about that tonight. I took my seat and Cal and Maven. Both said hello and smiled at me. I realized then that I'm going to miss them too. Even though they are slivers and worse, sliver royalty I still had someplace in my heart for the both of them.
My eyes kept flicking to the clock through dinner waiting for 7:30 to come. In the middle of eating a strawberry tart the lights flicked off. I knew it was time. "I'll miss you" I whispered to Cal and Maven but I'm not sure they heard me. I heard the gunshot and while everyone started getting up I ran to the storage room. Everyone must have thought there was a rebel attack because the guards were in chaos and luckily then didn't see me. As I went to the storage room I realized how bad of an idea this was. I has less that 5 minutes to change and get all the makeup off my face. If someone caught me they would think I was helping the rebels and actually kill me.
Fear made me quick as I tossed on the clothes and wiped all the makeup off. I could hear the battle outside going on. Little did they know they were just fighting each other. They'll find out soon enough. I sneaked out the storage room. Halfway to the backdoor a flame knocks me off my feet.
"Oh I'm sorry, your just a maid. You must get back to the kitchen it's dangerous out here," said a voice I knew too well. Cal.
"Yes thank you," I say in a high-pitched voice so he won't recognize me. Thank goodness he went off and I ran to the backdoor and onto the truck. The truck set off leaving the palace trailing behind me shining as brightly as it was the first day. Goodbye Mareena. Your back to your rightful place again.
