It didn't take very long for Brian to respond.

I had decided to take a bath to relax some after the anxiety of having to hide and send the message. I had my phone sitting on the closed toilet lid on top of a towel so that I could just reach over and answer it after drying my hands in case he replied.

When the phone screen lit up, I did just that. I had been surprised I hadn’t started crying earlier when writing my message to him, but reading his response pushed me over the edge. I was careful to muffle any sounds I made so that nobody would hear.

“It’s my fault the police didn’t get to you in time, I’m so sorry….Not only that, but I should have stayed and helped you get away instead of running off...

I’m really glad you and Haydn are okay after everything. I won’t do anything to put you guys at risk. I’m just really glad that you still have a way to keep in touch with everyone.

I’ll make sure to pass the message onto your parents. I don’t know if I’ll be able to stop them from trying to go to the police, but they don’t have anything to go on anyways, so it’s not like they would be able to do anything. They already tried tracking your guys’ phones, but it was a bust. Those guys must have gotten rid of any possible evidence, even the security footage for the building.

Everyone loves and misses you guys. Please text me as often as you can, but don’t put yourself at risk. I want to be able to keep talking to you, so I’ll wait as long as it takes. Take care of yourself, alright?”

I wiped the tears from my face. I couldn’t help but smile. It was so good to talk to him again. To know he, and everyone else, was alright.

“I’ll try and check in with you every week if I can, every day at best. When I do, I’ll let you know everything about what’s been happening. I’d really like to know anything from your end as well…For now, here’s a quick explanation of what’s happened since the school.

They own a mansion. It’s bigger than any I’ve ever seen before, and extremely nice. It was a bit hard to get used to at first, and at times it still is since we miss you all, but things could be much worse. We’re prisoners technically, but no one treats us that way. It’s kinda weird how friendly they are even though they had been trying to kill us. It makes it easier at least.

Haydn’s found a friend in one of them at least. Oliver had been the only one who had tried to get them all to stop and not hurt us. He had been the one to let Henson escape. He had tried to help us escape too, at one point, but it didn’t end up working out since I was caught before I could get the key. Either way, I’m just glad she’s found someone other than me to trust and have fun with. It’s making things much easier for her.

One of them, Flavio, even bought the both of us a whole new wardrobe. He said that we couldn’t go without clothes while we were living there, so he did that. It’s all throwing me off. But, I do admit, I’d rather them act like they are than in a way that would make me have to worry about Haydn’s safety all the time.

So really, you don’t need to worry. I’ve got to go now before someone starts to question why I’m taking so long in the bathroom. I’m turning my phone off after this, so I’ll send you another message when I can. I love you, bye for now.”

I quickly finished up in the bath, shutting my phone off after drying off. I spent the rest of the day lounging around in Haydn’s room, watching old movies.

The next day I was up much earlier than I usually was. By nine I was already up and dressed.

“What are you doing up so early?” Haydn questioned me when I went down to the kitchen to find some breakfast.
I shrugged. “I fell asleep earlier than usual.”
