I slept better than I had the rest of that night than I had since the text from Brian.

It had been ten in the morning when I woke up, feeling strangely refreshed, so I got up and took a quick shower, doing the usual morning routine before going down to get some food.

Haydn stared in surprise when I passed the living room. She was sitting there, watching tv with Oliver.

Lutz was also in the room, half asleep, until he glanced over to see me that is.

“Oh, poppet, I'm so glad you've decided to come down!” he jumped up to clasp my hands. “I'll help you get something to eat!”

I laughed lightly. “I'm capable of getting food, but thank you, Oliver.”

“Are you feeling better now?” Lutz asked.

“Yeah,” I nodded. “I'm back now.”

“Good,” a small smile was on his face as he turned back to sleep again.

Haydn walked into the kitchen with me.

“What happened?” she asked.

“It's a long story,” I admitted. “Basically, I decided to forgive them, kind of. Just like with Hamburg and Henson, their deaths will always be painful for me. But I'd like to think that with how close we are now, none of them would do something like that if they knew how it would affect me again. It'll be miserable if I keep locking myself away and never talking to them. I just need to go back to what I had been doing before.”

I pulled my waffles out of the toaster and began to eat them over a napkin.

“Well, they're going to be happy about that,” she nodded. “They've really missed you. And they've been really worried, almost as worried as back when you were in the hospital.”

I couldn't help but laugh. “That's pretty worried.”

“I know,” she grinned.

After eating, I went up to the library to spend some time with Gillen and Viktor like I would have done before deciding to lock myself in my room.

They were just as surprised as everyone else that I had decided to leave my room, but decided not to question me.

We spent our time reading until Haydn came up to tell me Oliver had decided to make everyone lunch since he was so happy about me leaving my room, so we all went down to the living room to wait.

“It's true! You came out!” the second I had stepped into the room, I was crushed in a hug by Zao.

“I'm being squeezed to death,” I managed to get out.

He just laughed and let me go.

“So you really did,” Allen commented with a smile that seemed to have a bit of guilt behind it.

“I did say so,” I nodded.

“Listen,” he scratched the back of his head sheepishly. “I don't expect you to forgive us for what we did. But it really means a lot that you're talking to us again, doll.”

I smiled lightly. “Thanks, Al. I can't forgive what you did, like you said, but I can move past it.”

Matt walked over to me, patting my head. “You didn't have to….And it really means a lot to the two of us, even if Al won't admit it. He was really upset over all of this.”

I nodded, not really knowing what to say.

Oliver came in, saving me from having to come up with a response.

“Lunch is ready everyone!” he cheered.

“I'll go up and get Luci,” Flavio said, skipping over to the stairs.

When he came down, everyone sat at the table to eat the sandwiches Oliver had made.

After lunch, Luciano asked to talk to me up in his office, so I followed him up there. He sat down at his desk as I stood waiting.

“So what is it, Luci?”

“Flavio said you had another nightmare last night, that you thought you had killed Allen,” he replied.

“Oh…” I muttered. “Yeah...I was kind of in a panic when I woke up and thought I really might have, so I ran in to make sure he was okay. I guess I was crying pretty loud since I woke up both him, Matt and Oliver.

You know...what I told you about my nightmares before wasn't all there was to it. What bothered me the most….was that they all said their deaths were my fault. I...I couldn't save them, even though I saved Haydn.”

“You can't think like that, ragazza” Luciano shook his head. “You had no part of it, you couldn't do anything. It wasn't your fault.”

“I know that,” I nodded. “Blaming myself won't do anything. But still...what I felt the most guilty for wasn't even that.”

He gave me a curious look, waiting for me to continue. I sighed, not exactly wanting to admit it, but I felt like I had to.

“Despite everything you guys have done….I can't help caring for you guys….”

Luciano smirked. “Everyone will be happy to know that. It goes without saying that we all care for you as well.”

He got up from the desk, moving over to me to take my chin in his fingers.

“So does that mean you won't be sleeping with me again, ragazza?” he purred in my ear. “There's always a place for you in my bed.”

My face flushed, and I stepped away from him. “That's not funny, Luci. Don't joke around.”

“You think I'm joking?” he smirked. “Why not stay and find out?”

“Was the thing last night the only thing you wanted to talk about?” I was beyond flustered at this point.

He sighed, moving away. “No. A business partner of mine is having a large party in a few weeks. Everyone here is invited, including you and your sister. Flavio said he wanted to take the two of you shopping for dresses soon so you'll have something appropriate to wear.”

“What's wrong with the dresses he already bought us?” I questioned.

“The man is a bit eccentric,” he explained. “The party is a ball, so you'll need a proper ballgown.”

“A ball?” I asked, a bit surprised. “I didn't know people still did those….Man, you rich people are somethin else.”

He chuckled a bit. “They still do, although I don't know how often. I have to get back to work now. You can stay if you would like.”

“Nah, I wouldn't want to get in the way of your work,” I turned to the door. “Good luck with what you're doing.”

As I walked down the stairs to find where Haydn had gone, my mind wandered to the balls I had seen in tv or read about in books.

It would be really interesting to see some of the guys, like Allen and Francois, out of their element at a party like that. I couldn't help but laugh at the thought.
