Things only got worse. At first, I had been able to sleep through most of the day without any problem. I preferred oversleeping. It gave me less time to think about what had happened and cry again.
But now, almost two weeks later, I was having an extremely hard time trying to sleep. I was lucky if I was getting two or three hours at best.
And when I was able to fall asleep, my mind was plagued by nightmares. Most of them were of what had happened back at the school.
I was constantly rediscovering Hamburg and Henson’s dead bodies, and imagining different, gruesome ways, Gabe and Gordon had been killed.
My door was left unlocked now, but hardly anyone tried to come in other than Haydn and Gillen.
Allen and Matt had tried once, but I had refused to even speak a word to the two. Eventually, after standing there staring for a while, they had realized they weren’t going to get a response, so they had left.
Zao had came in once as well. He didn’t say anything at first, just came in and sat down beside me.
Eventually, he hugged me and told me that I looked like death. All I could do was laugh.
“I haven’t been sleeping much this past week,” I admitted.
“Want me to bring you some opium?” he asked. “It’s supposed to make you drowsy.”
“No,” I shook my head. “I wouldn’t be able to get the smoke down without choking on it. Thank you, though…”
“I can try sleeping with you again?” he offered. “Maybe it will help you relax enough to sleep.”
I forced a smile. “I’m sorry, Zao...I really appreciate it, it’s just….”
He still had his arm around me, so he gave me a comforting squeeze. “Don’t apologize. If you need me, come find me, alright?”
I nodded, so he got up and left the room.
It had been a few days after that when I got the surprise I didn't want.
A knock came from my door, so I glanced over right as it opened. Everyone was there, except for Haydn.
At the sight of Allen and Matt, I turned around, facing my back to them, but made sure I could see everyone else out of the corner of my eye.
“Bella,” Flavio took a step forward, but Luciano put a hand on his shoulder to stop him. “We're really worried about you. Are you okay? What's wrong?”
Oliver nodded in agreement.
Gillen was watching me carefully, guilt apparent in his eyes. He wanted to stop this, but they wouldn't listen to him....
“I'm fine,” I muttered.
“We don't believe that,” Kuro countered. “Just tell us what's wrong, you'll feel better.”
“It won't help,” I shook my head. “I don't want to talk about it.”
“You can't ignore us forever,” Allen spoke up. “You'll have to talk about it at some point. We know you've told your sister, so come on.”
My head fell, my teeth gritting together harder and harder with every word.
Stop talking...Just stop….If you don't, I'll snap, and that will be that….They can't find out that I know…
“Allen,” Matt attempted to stop his rant, but wasn't able to.
“I know you've been talking to Gillen everyday, and you've even been talking to Zao, so what the fuck?!”
