(Short AN: AHHHH this is it guys! Here's the last official chapter to this series! After this, I'm going to be focused on writing each individual characters endings.Thank you all so much for reading! I've had a lot of fun writing this series! Now, onto the final chapter!)
Oh god….How did I let things get so out of hand…? What am I supposed to do….?
“Sooo...Why haven’t you told him that you like him yet?!”
I was sitting on my bed, watching something random on tv as me and Haydn were texting back and forth.
It had been a little over a month since she had safely gotten back home. My parents were extremely grateful to have her back, but that didn’t mean I didn’t get a call from Haydn shortly after I had gotten my phone back with no restrictions. They had prepared a long lecture for me after she had told them that I had chosen to stay so she could at least get home without anyone hunting us down. But, in the end, they were just happy that we were both safe and that they could at least keep in touch with me now.
Brian had been upset. When he heard from Feliciano that they were back, he rushed over to my house, only to find that I wasn’t there. Haydn had to fill him in on what happened because Feliciano didn’t have the heart to do it himself.
Surprisingly, he had actually understood my reasons for staying. I didn’t explain the part about feeling guilty about leaving them, because I knew that he wouldn’t understand that. He realized that if the both of us escaped, they would have all hunted us down, but since I had stayed, it placated them. He was just happy that I pretty much had the freedom of a normal person now that I had chosen to stay, and that I was safe.
But, back to the text at hand.
I was staring down at Haydn’s text, not exactly ready to respond to it. I had told her about my feelings a few days after she had left, and ever since then, I had been receiving non stop texts about how I should just tell him.
I had told her that I would confess to him last week, but she knew me well enough to know that hadn’t happened yet. Every time I had told myself that I was going to do it, I would see him and all the confidence I had built up would be gone in an instant.
“I...just haven’t found the right moment to do it yet?” I had used these excuses with her before.
“All you have to do is make sure he’s alone! You don’t need the timing to be ‘right’,” she countered.
“I could resend all of my previous excuses.”
“You would just get the same answers as before.”
“You know how I get, Haydn...I lose all confidence the second the time comes where I can actually say it.”
“I know, I know…” she’d had a fair share of these kinds of situations herself, of which our roles had been switched so that I could help her gain the confidence to do it. “But you need to just suddenly say it. Don’t even think about it, that way you won’t have time to second guess yourself.”
“That’s easier said than done,” I laughed at her response.
“I know, but still. I believe in you. If you could see how some of the boys had been tripping up over you when you aren’t around, you wouldn’t be so hesitant.”
“Okay, wait what?” I had never heard anything of the sort. “Explanation please.”
“Sorry, mom’s calling me for lunch!” her response was almost instant. “I’ve got to go!”
I groaned. I highly doubted that story, she just didn’t want to explain some of the things she had seen while I wasn’t around. I’d get it out of her one day. For now...I needed a plan on how I was going to tell him how I felt…
But, knowing my history, even if I came up with a plan, I wouldn’t end up actually using it. Things probably wouldn’t go as I wanted, so I would just end up eventually saying it spur of the moment. I guess it didn’t really matter how I told him...I just needed to actually do it.
God, I really let myself get out of hand with this…
