Dave's Point Of View

"God I forgot how cute babies are," Britt said before she kissed Deacon's cheek.

"He's only cute because he looks like you," I said. Britt cradled him in her arms and just held him as she sat on the floor.

"He looks exactly like Eric did when he was this age. Look at these nostrils. That's all you baby love," She replied with. I got off the couch and joined her on the floor as she looked down at Deacon.

"You'll grow into those little guy. Do you want me to take him for awhile and you can go get some sleep?" I asked as she yawned.

"I'm good. He'll be asleep soon and then I can go take a nap," she replied after she turned to look at me. She gave me a tired smile and I smiled back before kissing her on the cheek.

"Ok but if you want to go now," I started but stopped when we heard yelling in the kitchen.

"Fuck off Eric. I don't need you telling the guys I bring home that you're going to kick their ass if you see them back here. I don't tell you to stop screwing Frances when I'm home and can hear you two in the next room," Lynette screamed and then we heard a door slam. Deacon started crying and Britt looked like she would cry herself. I took him from her and walked over to the couch as Eric came into the living room.

"Mom your daughter is a bitch," He said to Britt as she laid down on the floor.

"Don't call your sister a bitch and keep it down. Your sister just woke Deacon up and now he's crying obviously," Britt said as she covered her head with a baby blanket.

"Well she's gone freaking nuts mom. I told a couple of trashy looking guys that if I saw them back here I would beat them up. I only said it because while they were doing it I heard her say stop it hurts and owe. Frances and I don't do that here," Eric added when he saw my face.

"You still don't call her a bitch or any other name in the book and maybe we should make it a rule of no sex in the house," I said. Britt sat up and gave me a look.

"Even us?" she asked. Eric and I both started laughing and Britt just glared at us.

"No not us. We gotta try and make another one yet," I replied with a straight face. Her eyes went wide and then I saw the panic set in.

"He's a month old. Are you kidding me? I could have died," she responded with.

"I was kidding and don't be that over dramatic. We'll talk again when he's one though. Now go take a nap before Alex gets home and we ask him about that thing we talked about," I said. She got up and came over to me.

"Fine but I'm taking the baby with me to put him in the crib," Britt replied before giving me a kiss and taking Deacon. She left the room and then I turned my focus to Eric who was looking at me.

"What are you going to talk to Alex about?" Eric asked.

"Your mom and I have been talking with a lawyer and amongst ourselves about me adopting Alex. Today we're going to ask him if he'd be okay with that," I replied.

"That's actually kind of awesome dad. I think he'll say yes. I mean he already calls you dad when it's just me and him hanging out. He tries not to do it when the girls are around though because Violet and Harper tell him that you're not his dad and he says sorry and then calls you Dave. We're all one big family now and I'm including him in that but when you think about it he's the odd one out. Ya the girls have a different mom but we all share the same dad. I think this is a great thing you're doing dad," Eric said.
