Brittany's Point Of View

9 Months Old

"Mom how do I look?" Eric asked as he came into the living room. Tongiht he was taking Frances out for their one year anniversary.

"You look handsome. Remind me of your dad when he was your age. Isn't your big brother oh so handsome?" I asked Deacon as I stood up with him. Deacon smiled and chuckled as Eric made a face at him.

"Ok but seriously mom. I look ok right? I changed like five times. God I wish Lynette was here," Eric said as he walked over to a mirror.

"You look great so just relax. You're not coming home tonight right?" I asked him as he turned to face us.

"Correct but we will both be here for breakfast in the morning. Then it's off to Hawaii for a few days," Eric replied with.

"Oh that reminds me. You dad said you could use the house if you wanted to stay an extra few days. He left the keys in his bedside table," I said.

"Sweet. I'll talk to Frances about it tonight and let you know in the morning. Ok one last time for good measure. I look good right?" Eric asked as he looked at me.

"Yes you do. Like I said the first time you look handsome. Man I remember when you where this guys size and all you needed was me," I said in response.

"Mom I still need you. Maybe not as much as I used to but I do. I'm going to run upstairs and say good night to Alex and then I'm off," Eric said and ran upstairs. I waited by the front door for him with Deacon so I could set the alarm after he left. Eric wasn't gone long before he turned up in the front entrance.

"He's fast asleep. If you need me to come home at anytime tonight don't hesitate to call," Eric said before giving Deacon a kiss on the top of his head.

"I'm sure we'll be fine for a night. Now go and have a good ngiht. Tell Frances I said hi and happy anniversary," I said as he kissed my cheek.

"I will. Have a good night mom and mini bro," Eric said and then left the house.

I set the alarm and then headed off upstairs to put Deacon down for the night. Once he was asleep and in his crib, I grabbed the baby monitor and headed back downstairs. I checked in on Alex and saw he was snuggled up with his stuffed Dumbo. He had been sick all last week and wasn't getting too much better. I had to cancel going to see Dave for the weekend because Alex was so sick. When I told Dave he seemed upset but he understood and said not to worry about it. It was never easy being away from him but we managed to make it work. I headed downstairs and did the few dishes that where left over from dinner and then settled down on the couch to watch I, Tonya. I started the movie and got thirty minutes into it when my phone went off. I looked at it and saw it was a text from Courtney asking what I was doing. I told her just watching a movie alone and she texted back asking if I wanted company. I said sure and she said she'd be right over. I was happy that I hadn't changed into my pjs yet but went upstairs and made sure I didn't like too disheveled. I splashed some water over my face and put on mascara, lipstick and brushed my hair out of it's ponytail. I noticed the shirt I had on had a stain from baby spit up so I changed into a sweatshirt that read 'This is my too tired to function sweatshirt' and headed back downstairs. Just as I got downstairs the gate buzzer went off. I asked who it was and got it's Courtney bitch as a response. I opened the gate, turned off the alarm and headed outside to meet her.

"I thought we discussed you not calling me a bitch now that we're past our twenties," I said as she got out of her car and walked over to me.

"I know, I know but I forgot this time I swear. I come bearing wine because I know you might need it," Courtney replied with. We hugged and then headed inside and before going to the kitchen I reset the alarm.
