Brittany's Point Of View
11 Months Old
"Mom come on please. We can have a mother daughter weekend. Dad said he'd take Deacon and Alex. Aunt Abby and Uncle Taylor agreed to help out that weekend too. Mom please come with me," Lynette asked as I iced a cake.
"Lynette I don't want to go. Invite one of your girlfriends from back home if you want. I don't care. I'd rather stay here with the boys. Your dad does not need to worry about the boys when he has so much going on already," I replied.
"But mom," Lynette whined.
"Don't start please. I don't want to go and that's the end of that. Now leave me alone please," I said exasperated.
Lynette grabbed her phone and stormed off. I felt bad but I did not want go. Not only did I not want to go but I had reasons. Besides I'd rather go spend the weekend with Dave and the boys or at home with all the boys. I knew it would be better for me to not go anyways. I knew there was a high possibility of running into someone and I didn't want to risk it. I finished decorating the cake and then went upstairs. The middle kids where in the play room playing a board game in peace for once. I moved on to Deacon's room where Ophelia and Dave were with Deacon. They where trying to get him to walk.
"Daddy maybe he's not ready," Ophelia said as Deacon crawled over to her after a failed attempt.
"He's getting there. He just needs to keep trying. Hey you," Dave said when he noticed me standing there.
"Hey guys. I think maybe Fifi is right though. I think Deaky is just not ready yet Dave," I said back as Deacon started crawling over me.
"But he walks when he holds onto one of our fingers," Dave said as I sat down by the door. When Deacon got to me I picked him up and kissed his cheek.
"Ya but he's not ready to do it on his own. Maybe by his birthday. That's when Eric, Lynette and Alex all walked," I responded with.
"It doesn't hurt to atleast try a few times a day. Deaky come here. Come see dada," Dave said as Deacon and I both looked at him.
I put him on his feet and he bounced a few times while holding onto my fingers. Deacon then took a step towards Dave and another one, all while holding my fingers. He took a couple more and was soon at arms length. Dave moved a bit closer as Deacon took a couple more steps. Deacon eventually let go of my finger and wobbled in place for a moment before taking a step. He wobbled a bit more when he took another and then fell when he took a third.
"Aww good try Deaky," Dave said as he hugged Deacon.
"I'm going out shopping if it's ok with you two," Lynette said from behind me.
"Ya sure go ahead," Dave said.
"Can I go too?" Ophelia asked.
"It's ok with me if it's ok with Lynette," Dave replied.
"Come on Fifi. Let's go have some sister time. Atleast someone wants to spend time alone with me," Lynette said as they left the room. Dave put Deacon down and then came over and sat beside me.
"What's that about?" Dave asked as Deacon started playing with a stuffed animal.
"Oh she wants me to go to New York with her still. I keep telling her no. I have my reasons for not going but she doesn't understand that. She just wants a mother daughter weekend at this music thing," I replied.
"What exactly is this thing she wants to go to?" Dave asked.
"It's where they play experimental music for 24 hours. I don't really get it but it seems like it'd be interesting," I replied.
