"We're here!" My mom's excited voice filled the confined space of the SUV that had become my home for the past 18 hours. I got out of the car once she has parked in the lot next to the administration office of UCLA, my dream school.

We walked side by side into the building and were bombarded by the huge crowd of incoming freshmen. My mom and I shoved our way through the crowd until reaching the front desk. A middle-aged woman welcomed us with a warm, yet tired, grin, "How may I help you?"

"I'm Lillian O'Bryan, I am not sure where or how to find my dorm room." I sheepishly chuckled.

"One sec," the woman turned to the computer and began typing away. After a few seconds she returned her attention to my mother and I. "You are staying in room 352, it's in building four which is only a small ways from here." She opened a sharpie and circled something on a sheet of paper. "This is the map of the campus, the star is the administration office and I circled where you need to be." She handed me the sheet of paper and my room key with a smile.

"Is this all I need to do?" I asked.

"Yes, I marked it off that you've arrived. Schedules and club sign ups take place in the courtyard near the dorms."

"Thank you," I smiled at her before walking away from the counter.

"Your father should be here soon. He just left his hotel." My mother said as she unlocked the SUV. I nodded and grabbed one of the numerous carts that was empty on the sidewalk.

With the help of my mother, I filled the cart with all of my stuff and the two of us made our way to the dorms. After a five to ten minute walk we found building four.

I opened the door for my mother who had been pulling the cart. I then proceeded to guide her to room 352. The door was already propped open and as I turned the corner into the doorway, I noticed my roommate standing in the corner.

"Hello," I shyly spoke as my mother and I entered the room.

The blonde turned around and plastered a giant smile on her face. "You must be my roommate! I'm Rebecca but everyone calls me Becca." She engulfed me in a hug that I kindly returned.

"I'm Lillian but everyone calls me Lilly." I giggled. "Nice to meet you." She nodded and shook my mom's hand.

"Your father is here," My mom said after her phone made its obnoxious chirp. "I'll go find him."

I nodded and my mother swiftly left the room, leaving Becca and I alone. "I see your furniture was already set up." She said.

"Yeah, my dad came up here about a week ago to set it up so it wouldn't be such a hassle." Becca nodded.

"Where you from?" She said as she went back to her previous chore of folding her clothes.

"Texas, you?" I replied.

"I'm from Montana."

"I've always wanted to visit Montana." I smiled and began unloading the cart filled with my things.

"It's nothing too spectacular," She shrugged.

"Better than Texas, all it is, is farms and dirt roads that lead to more farms." My comment caused Becca to laugh.

"You gotta point there Lilly."

We continued to introduce ourselves until my mom and dad walked in. My dad shook hands with Becca as they introduced themselves.

An hour went by as the four of us shared jokes and laughs while unpacking and decorating the room. I hung the final picture of Sarge on the wall above my desk. My desk was underneath my bed, just like Becca's.
