When Erin finally got home from work after breaking up with Jay, she felt sick and exhausted. She thought that her feeling sick must have been because she was tired, so she didn't think much of it....until she threw up multiple times in the toilet. She decided to get into her pjs and watch some Netflix on the couch with a lot of pillows and a fluffy blanket draped over her. She fell asleep half way through the movie. When she woke up the next morning she felt fine, so she didn't think much of her sickness for a while.

[Two months later]

Erin came into work feeling great. Then Voight briefed the unit on the case they had today, and all her happiness vanished. As Voight was explaining the location, Erin burst into tears. Voight stopped talking and everyone turned to look at Erin. She cried for about a minute before she regained her composure and faced everybody. "I honestly don't know what just happened..." she said to everyone, "but continue with the case." Atwater and Ruzek looked at each other and gave her a weird look. Voight just shook his head and began to speak again. Erin slipped to the back of the group and wondered what the hell was going on with her.

A few minutes later the unit was outside a house in Redfield, all geared up. "You ok?" Jay whispered to Erin as they inched closer to the back door. "I'm good, now let's get in there," she replied and Jay kicked down the door and ran inside. Erin went upstairs, while Jay took downstairs as the rest of the team were checking the garage and garden.

Erin walked into the first bedroom but there was nobody there, she checked the second one but that was clear too. She tip-toed across the landing to the bathroom, she started to push the door open, when she heard Ruzek shout from outside. She turned away from the door to catch what he said but all of a sudden she heard a BANG and felt a searing pain go through her leg. She fell to the ground on top of her gun and screamed, in pain and shock.

The next thing she knew the guy had jumped out the bathroom window and was gone. She heard someone thundering up the stairs, but couldn't process much more than that.

Jay thundered up the stairs when he heard Erin scream. He reached the top of the stairs and saw her on the floor with a GSW to the leg. He dropped to the floor and put pressure on the wound. He radioed the rest of the unit and sent for an ambulance.

When the paramedics came they took Erin to the ambulance and drove to Chicago Med. Voight rode along with them. Jay got in his car and sped after the ambulance to Med.
