It was Monday and the day Erin was going back to work. She had given up on using her crutches because she felt like a cripple with them. She got into her car and drove to work.
When she arrived, Jay was waiting at the steps of district 21. She got out of the car and started to walk towards the precinct when Jay spotted her, "Hey, Erin," he called. "Hi Jay," she replied as she reached him. "First day back how do you feel?" He asked as they walked up the steps. "I'm dying to get back, I've been so bored lately," she answered. "That's good, also before we go up, are we going to tell anyone about everything," Jay asked her. "I talked to Voight and he was fine with telling everyone so I was just going to get the unit together at the end of the day and tell them. What do you think?" Erin said. "I think that's a great idea," Jay smiled "and by the way, you look beautiful today." Erin blushed. They were at the corner and Jay pulled Erin in for a kiss before they got to their desks, "I love you." "I love you too," she whispered and then they walked in.
"WELCOME BACK ERIN!" The unit shouted in unison when they saw her walk in. "Aw thank you guys," she replied, "it's great to be back." Voight separated from the group, "Erin can I speak to you in my office, please." "Of course Sergeant," she replied and followed him in. "Take a seat." She obliged and sat down across from him. "Listen Erin, what I'm about to tell you.. you're not going to like it, but it's in your best interest," Voight stated. "What is it?" Erin asked. "Starting tomorrow, I'm putting you on the front desk with Sergeant Platt until your maternity leave. Today is your last day until after you have that baby," Voight told her. Her mouth hung open. "Front desk?? No way!" She spat angrily. "It's for the safety of you and your baby Erin, our job is dangerous and I don't want either of you two to get hurt," Voight explained. She softened a bit at the mention of the baby. "You're right," she sighed "I guess I'll have to make the most of today then." She stood up, "Is that all Sergeant?" "Yes, now stay safe today." "I will," she promised and walked out of the office
