"I can't do this anymore"

Erin got into her car and drove to the district. She had spent all last night trying to not think about the whole thing with Jay. "He probably hates me now," she thought sadly to herself. Then again that was why she told Jay that it could never happen again. The consequences they would face if Voight found out, if they broke up it would be awkward... No. No matter how much she wanted to be with Jay, she wouldn't let it happen.

When Erin arrived at work, she parked her car and walked in. Ruzek and Atwater just looked at her as she walked in in a daze. She spent the day lost in her own thoughts, not really concentrating on anything other than Jay. To take her mind off it a few hours into shift, she went to talk to Burgess about everything.

They ended up talking in the toilets. When Erin had told Burgess everything, Burgess just shook her head in disbelief. "No way," was all she could say. "Look you can't tell anyone," Erin whispered. "Of course I wouldn't tell anyone, Erin," said Kim, "And I think your doing the right thing, protecting both your jobs."

Erin felt a lot better after talking to Kim. They hadn't caught a hard case so they finished early. Erin was entering the locker room when she saw Jay already inside changing his shirt. She sucked in a breath and tried to steady her racing heartbeat. She turned around and walked to her car.

Jay was making a sandwich when he heard a knock on the door. He had been home two hours and wasn't expecting anybody. He put down the knife he was holding and strode over to the door. Jay pulled the door open and saw Erin standing at his door. "Erin?" he exclaimed, "What are you.." he broke off as Erin walked slowly towards him. When she reached him, she looked up and said, "I can't do this anymore," then kissed him.

They ended up on the couch. Jay had his hands on Erin's waist and Erin was running her hands through his hair. "Erin, I think I'm in love with you," stated Jay seriously in between kisses. "Jay, I think I might be in love with you too," Erin stuttered. Jay stopped kissing her for a minute and just looked at her. "Your beautiful," he said and went back to kissing her. They spent the night there, together.
