Erin awoke feeling nauseous. She got out of bed holding a hand over her mouth and limped to the bathroom without her crutches. She got sick into the toilet twice but felt better after. When she had recovered a bit there was a knock on the half open door, it was Jay. She had totally forgot he had slept on the couch last night, he wouldn't leave because Erin had been an 'emotional wreck' and didn't want her to be alone.
"Can I come in?" he called from behind the door. "Yeah," Erin replied while sitting on the lid of the toilet. "Are you okay?" Jay asked concerned. "Yep, I'm feeling better now," admitted Erin. "I made you some breakfast if you're feeling up to it," Jay added as he looked at Erin's pale face regaining colour. He then noted that if you looked close enough you could see Erin's stomach beginning to swell under her shirt. "Breakfast sounds good," smiled Erin as she got up, "but would you mind grabbing my crutches." "Sure thing." Jay walked out of the bathroom to retrieve the crutches from beside the wardrobe. He brought them back to Erin, who took them and headed to the kitchen.
As the two of them were eating breakfast side by side at the counter, as it was Saturday and didn't have work, Erin took a breath and started to speak, "Jay, I was thinking about everything you said last night and I think you're right. I love you and you love me and we make each other happy, I also love this baby inside of me and I've decided to keep it," she finished looking at Jay, waiting for his reaction. He looked shocked at first but then the shock grew into happiness. He turned to face Erin and pulled her into his arms, so her head was against his chest. He then whispered into her ear, "I've never been happier than I am right now."
They lay cuddled up together on the couch watching Netflix for the rest of the day, Erin with a tub of mint chocolate ice cream and Jay attempting to steal it away from her every so often. Jay muted the tv a while later, "So does this mean we are going out again," he asked. "I think it does," replied Erin as she placed the empty ice cream tub on the coffee table and smiled up at Jay. "Well then let me make it official," Jay began, "Erin Lindsay, will you be my girlfriend?" "Yes, Jay Halstead, I will be your girlfriend." She replied and kissed him. They were interrupted by a text coming through on Erin's phone, she broke away and grabbed her phone from the table. "It's from Chicago Med," stated Erin, "they scheduled an appointment for me with the OB/GYN for next week, Natalie must have done this for me." She looked at Jay. "Will you come?" "Of course I will, babe," he smiled and pulled me back onto the couch.
