Chapter 38

Hermione's pov

Mum walks over to us and says.

"I have the guest bedroom ready for Draco."

"Thank you Mrs.Granger." I giggle and he looks at me bemused.

"Oh please Draco, call me Jane." Says Mum before she walks away.

"What do you want to do till this afternoon?" I ask getting up from his lap.

"I don't know. What do you like to do when you come home from Hogwarts?" I smile knowing just the place.

We step out of the cab and past the gates that lead to the boardwalk. The sun shine brightly above us with not a cloud in its way. The loud music plays over head drifting on the breeze. The ferris wheel and the roller coaster were on my list of rides and cotton candy is a must. I pull him along behind me. He's looking around at everything in amazement.

"Muggles know their stuff." He says eyeing the roller coaster. We buy tickets and get in line.

"I haven't been here in forever." I say.

"I've never been on this...what do you call this thing." He says.

"It's a roller coaster." After a long line a breathtaking ride we get off and head for cotton candy.

"That was the best." He looked stunned and I laugh. But then something horrible happens. One tall girl with long blonde hair and a shorter dark haired one enter my field of sight. Two girls who I was previously friends with. Draco senses my discomfort and takes my hand, leaving the other in his pocket with his wand.

"Hermione We haven't seen you in like forever!" Screams Lily the dark haired one.

"It's been too long." Says Clair it was just then that I notice the tall handsome athlete(hardly as handsome as Draco but still)with an arm wrapped around her.

"Oh, my manners. This is Chad, my boyfriend. He's a football player." He leaned in for a kiss but she then wiggles out of his embrace.

"How have you been? Studying as usual. Have you ever had a boyfriend? I mean you never were good at talking to people." She says flicking dirt off her nail.

Lily leans into Clair and whispers loudly enough for me to hear.

"Who is that piece of ass. Omg, he looks like a model." Draco this whole time had been behind me not to close not to far staring at the water. I smirk. I can't wait to see their faces.

"Who? Him?" I say pointing to Draco. They both nod leaving Chad to Flex his biceps a pretty blonde girl that was passing.

"Oh, this is Draco, my boyfriend." When I say his name he turns and puts an arm over my shoulder. Their expressions were all I needed for revenge for years of bullying. I walk toward the Ferris wheel with Draco, leaving them dumbstruck.

We walk to the ferris wheel and get in line. The close the cart and we start to move. Draco is looking out over the water. I fiddle with the necklace and watch him.

"Draco." He turns around to face me.

"You know I can protect myself right?" I say looking at the necklace. He's afraid and I look up at him.

"What are you so scared of?" I ask looking at him and grabbing his hand. He looks down.

"I promise I'll tell you but not yet." He says. I think for a moment in silence. This necklace made it so I wouldn't be hurt if Draco was but did that mean Draco was going to get hurt.

"Are you going to get hurt?" I ask he doesn't answer.

"You know I can protect you as well," I say still holding his hand wishing he would look at me.

"But it's my job to protect you." He says looking at me. He leans in and kisses me. What a perfect day but I still feel uneasy.
